Got a call from TM, offering me an upgrade from my 50 Mbps (was on 30 Mbps at RM199) to 100 Mbps for additional RM20. Yes, additional RM20!!!!!!

Saw in this forum and a friend in KL got the upgrade for only RM10/month.

I am from Sarawak. Why are we treated as a 3rd class Msian where we get the lousy service and have to pay more?

Sorry for airing my anger and frustration here. Hope someone high in TM management is reading this. May contact someone in Sarawak govt on this where they proudly boosted about the broadband development and growth in Sarawak. Really?

Need help from friends here who have resolved this sound issue.

Got this sound issue now and then when watching HypTV (like not tuned properly, high pitch sound) since I switched to Unifi some 2 yrs ago. I managed to solve the sound problem by :
** changing to certain channel and then go back to the channel I want to watch,
** restarting the HypTV box

It is now getting rather annoying to do all that almost 1-3 times daily to correct the sound. To add salt to injury, my 2 old solution sometimes worked and sometimes not.

Like to learn from those who faced the same problem and how you managed to solve it.

Thanks.

the only solution I know off is unplug your hdmi at unifitv and plug it again, that resets the noise. Mine not that often, but once in a while ada la

Done that but not 100% success every time. Thanks.

I made a change in the setting and so far 100% success with no more high pitch sound. Mind you, this is a short duration test. Need to test it for a longer period.

In HypTV, go to Settings, Display Sound and select 1080p50Hz. That setting was not set before.

You may be wondering the 1080p50Hz setting is for visual, how can that help the audio.

My layman's view is, when setting that 50Hz for visual, the whole system uses 50Hz including audio.

Electricity in Sarawak is 50Hz. Check what is the frequency in W Msia. And select the correct one.

Please let me know if the problem comes back after you have made the above change.

Good luck!

I dont think thats the issue....lets see your outcome. Mine is set 1080/50, ours is PAL system, hence the setting should be 50Hz, whereas for NTSC it would be 60Hz
*
After 3 days, 100% success with no high pitch out of tune sound. I even switched off and on the hyptv box on purpose a few times to test it, to see if the high pitch sound would come back.

I am 99.999999999555551111111% sure what I have done has solved the problem. Ha.

NSTC was developed in America (electricity 60Hz) followed by PAL in Germany (electricity 50Hz) to overcome some short comings of the NTSC system.

From the web ...

"This is due to the fact that NTSC is generally used in countries with a utility frequency of 60 Hz and PAL in countries with 50 Hz, although there are many exceptions. Both PAL and NTSC have a higher frame rate than film which uses 24 frames per second. PAL has a closer frame rate to that of film, so most films are sped up 4% to play on PAL systems, shortening the runtime of the film and, without adjustment, slightly raising the pitch of the audio track."

Maybe clear your display setting (with none selected) and see if you will get the high pitch sound in a 3 days test?

Cheerio.

Whenever you switched OFF your HyppTV box, you will have to go into setup and make the setting again the next time you switch ON the box?

No need. Setting will be the same.

I think you mean put the HyppTV box to "standby mode" right?  biggrin.gif
I use a computer monitor instead of TV set to watch HyppTV.
Maybe due to lower hardware spec. monitor, 1080 doesn't play on my monitor (monitor show display not supported)
So whenever I switch OFF HyppTV (I mean switched OFF power socket), I need to go to setting to set it to 720.  sad.gif

I have used both standby and power off modes ( I switch off the hyptv box every night). In both cases the setting stayed the same.

Strange, the setting is in HypTV and should not by itself reset because you are using a PC monitor.

Got call from Maxis on changing over to their broadband:
* 30 Mbps
* RM139/month
* free Iflix
* free domestic calls to all lines

Now on Unifi 50 Mbps RM199.

Like to have feedback from those who have changed to Maxis or those who are already using Maxis. Good and bad points.

Thanks.

I would advise that you stick with TM instead. If I recall correctly, Maxis Broadband runs on TM's line.. So if any issues, you'll have to wait doubly.. Cuz Maxis then contacts TM for resolution first.. Besides, you can also get 30Mbps from TM for RM139 per month and with free iFlix.. No free calls though. That's for older subs. With TM, who knows in 2 years, or lesser, they bump your speed up for slightly more like RM10/RM20..

thanks.

dont know how good is the other side of the maxis fence, thus asking here. their offer is not very attractive, maybe wait for the unifi announcement on the coming change due to the new govt.

Any lucky ones here with the 10 times free upgrade done?

Can't wait for mine. Ha.

But for Sarawak, like in the past, we will be at the bottom of their schedule list.
