Where is your shop?

Since we're just starting, we have no retail location.

Later on, I plan to display few units at my friend's shop on Jalan Ipoh.

Instead of having full blown retail location, paying rent, staff salary etc, I'd rather pass savings to end customers and keep price low. Beneficial for everyone, at least at that point.

Yes, the filter does everything you mentioned, but with a catch... If you have good POE system, clean tank etc, then it's a good solution. But if you want to use it as standalone product, with no pre-filter, it won't work very well. Crystal Eco is a much better standalone solution since it removes bacteria and viruses, doesn't need a pre-filter, lasts longer. Just my opinion though.

Thanks for the feedback. I will pair the solo with a POE filter but actually still unsure whether to go for the solo or something like Panasonic PJ-37MRF-ZMA water filter for my POU which is more or less around the same price.

POE depends on many factors. What is your goal for POE? What do you want it to remove? Do you live in condo or landed? Do you mind pressure drop?

I normally recommend sediment POE only, 5 micron pleated polyester. As for POU, if you want, can have 1 or 2 stages made in USA (all US/UK components) filter system. 1 stage removes all chlorine, heavy metal, lead. Other stage removes all bacteria and viruses. This is my own custom filter systems, everything that touches water made in USA/UK, NSF certified. If you are interested I can provide more details and price.

I just want my POE to filter out sediments and whatever dirt there is, no smell, no chlorine. I don’t expect my POE to make the water drinkable from the taps so that’s why i’m looking for a POU filter as well. Living in a landed property btw. Minimal pressure drop is totally fine for me.

Any combo POE + POU out there for a price around 2k?

I suggest just a simple POE 1 stage with 5 micron pleated polyester melt blown. In 20", wide housing. This will not reduce pressure much and will get rid of sediment. Have Taiwan made housing (NSF) and China made (non-NSF). Honestly, I don't think for POE it matters whether China or Taiwan. Filter can be either Taiwan (melt blown) or US made (pleated polyester). US made pleated polyester in 20" housing can last 2-3 years and is washable. Melt blown need to change more often, but it is cheaper.

Just to give you an idea:

1. Pentek 20" wide housing + 5 micron US made pleated polyester about 550RM (this is the best, fully NSF certified), but wait time from USA.

2. Pentek 20" wide housing + 5 micron Pentek melt-blown 510RM, 1-2 weeks to get.

3. Taiwan NSF housing + 5 micron Pentek melt-blown 390RM, 1-2 weeks to get

4. China housing + China filter (no certification whatsoever) 300RM, about 1-1.5 weeks to get.

All filters and housings are interchangeable.

Honestly, what I can suggest is to get option 4, cheapest one, try it out and then just change the filter for US made pleated polyester down the line. It will be the best solution. Second best would be #3. The reason is, you don't really care where the housing is made when you're not drinking this water, and the housing will be able to take Pentek or any other brand filters anyway, these are standard housings.



Second is POU. I would not go for Crystal solo. The best would be fully US/UK made system made of, again, STANDARD housings and YOU choose how many stages you want. You can have just carbon (taste, odor, heavy metals) or carbon+zeta filter. Now, I never spoke about Zeta filter before, because I only now finally ordered it from the US. This is new, patented technology, fully NSF approved to NSF42 and 61 standard. Removes all sediment, bacteria, heavy metals and chromium and is washable 6. AND IT'S NOT CRAZY EXPENSIVE. Silver impregnated to prevent bacteria growth inside the filter.

The 2 stage will cost you 1000RM, where every single component that touches water (even faucet) is made in USA/UK and is NSF certified.
One stage with only carbon (similar to Crystal Solo, but again, full NSF and all US/UK) is 500RM.


So in conclusion, let's say you choose #4 POE (300RM), then change the filter to US made, 200RM, then get 2 stage POU, total is 1500RM, plus installation about 250RM, so for 1750RM you get top of the line POE+POU. Of, if you want POE for 500, POU as Solo or One Stage US made, total is... 1000RM, plus 250 installation and your total is 1250RM.

Hope you are not confused, but as I mentioned, having premium filters and great water quality below 2000RM is very possible, if only you don't listen to amway-type salesman.


P.S. I do not recommend Solo because I don't think it's good value for money compared to US/UK system. But, if you only want big established brand name, then sure can do Solo as well.

It would be 390 + 1200 = 1590 for the filters, 90RM discount for buying both, so 1500RM. Installation, my estimation is 250RM all in. However, I cannot guarantee 250RM installation, because it depends how is your configuration. Is it simple "pipes with meter outside the house"? My best estimate is total with installation and discount it will be 1750 RM.

In undersink configuration cartridges are always under pressure and fully submerged in water as they are meant to be. When you use diverter, pressure drops, water level drops, exposing parts of cartridges and reducing their expected life. Also, water flow from counter top is not so good. Not an issue when you need just a glass of water, you can wait, but if you need to fill a 3L kettle, then the difference is quite big.

I know most people go for countertop because it's seems easier in the beginning, but then end up regretting and wishing they've gone under sink in the first place.

how often do you need to replace the 3 filters?

Ok, Aquaphor says 8000L or 1 year. They say 1.5 years for other markets.

So short answer is 1 year.

Long answer below:

I would say you must start worrying about replacing them after 1 year and start looking for replacement and maybe already boil your water after 1 year.

In fact, you probably will not notice degradation, flow will be ok, taste too. What you do not see is what's happening inside, bacteria, slime etc. Carbon blocks are only good for 1 year. UF membrane too. So even if you barely use it, after a 12-14 months you're guaranteed to have alien life inside already.

Depending on your location, installation is 100-150RM for Klang Valley, not fixed price of 150.

Just for sharing. Last weekend at Homedec I purchased the Aquaphor Crystal Eco package (Crystal Eco+a set of 3 filters + installation) from the Aquaphor dealer, which I thought was a good deal until I saw hestati's offer.

But I am curious as to why the 3 filters from the dealer (K3, K7B, K7) at Homedec appear to be slightly different from those filters that I saw at the Homedec booth (demo unit), local Aquaphor website and also the Russian website, in that, mine have some sort of serial numbers on the bottom of the filters whereas those other filters do not - see below (sorry, don't know how to insert the actual photos).

Hi, as discussed, I would not worry much about it. It may be import from EU countries. I highly doubt these are fakes, they are just probably were intended for different market, but doesn't mean that they are bad or inferior. Aquaphor supplies pretty much same thing to all markets, they don't differentiate. There could be slight difference in faucet design, but even this is due to the fact they changed faucet supplier.

Currently I am using the HydroOne POE system but I couldnt get replacement cartridges for my POU RO system. It is also time for me to change my POE's fibre membrane.
Would like to know your suggestion to change my system.

Yes, I do. PMed you already. Yes, sand filters are not that effective. They are 20 micron nominal, but in reality they are more like 40 micron. My solution is based on cartridge system, I have not presented it yet, because I'm still missing some parts from various suppliers, but I can explain in PM or by Whatsapp

Over the counter installation, no drilling, no holes, attached to the wall by special heavy duty Velcro tape. Replaced blue Aquaphor tubes by white, cut to size UK John Guest tubes for better looks. Very neat setup for those who cannot do under the sink installation and do not want to drill any holes (perfect for rented apartments).

There is now a possibility to install just 1 main faucet with both, clean and tap water function. Very compact design for small kitchens, solution with instant hot dispenser plumber in to the filter below as well through a t-joint.

Who is this for? People who cannot drill extra hole (rented unit), just need to enlarge current faucet hole to 35mm, which is invisible to landlord. Once you move out, just replace the faucet with the original one.

Also, great for someone who is planning to remodel his home, solid matte finish faucet with cold/hot/clean water.

Faucet is designed by Kaiser, Germany, but made in China... The only recommendation for clean water freaks like me is to flush it for 5 seconds or so every morning and when not used for long time.
