You can consider autofoam by KL Auto. They are autofoam & soundproofing specialist.
*
You should change your tyres first. Change to those comfort oriented tyres like Goodyear Efficientgrip

Autofoam is a waste of money, you will NOT see any appreciable improvements for the complaints that you are having.

If road noise is bad, change your tyres

If engine is noisy, sound insulation material for the firewall can help, but it is a tough job as there are a lot of parts involved

Sound intrusion is a design and material issue, can't really be fixed by foaming your chassis. Rust would be your friend if you foam. and added weight. and lighter wallet.

I'm currently on RE003 @ 15k worn, it's my 3rd set using the same.. It does sound less harsh when new, but then again I believe all new tyres sounded silent, no? But I still don't believe by changing the tyres, it will be as 'silent' as the Mazda or other Jap cars for that matter, right?
*
RE003 is one of the noisiest tyres around. Get these tyres:
- Bridgestone GR100
- Goodyear Efficientgrip

These will cut tyre noise by 20-30%

Spending 3k on soundproofing will give you:
- 10-20% improvement from noise
- extra weight, extra fuel consumption
- rust. some areas are just not meant to be sealed with soundproofing material (hence, design, by design some areas are meant to block sound). Foaming your chassis is the biggest snake oil before the "donation" came along.

Lol bro.
You are using RE003 of course la noisy lel.
It's under UHP category and stick like a semi click tyre.
It's noisy and quiet hard and harsh.

Change to Primacy 3st and you will be shock how quiet you Suprima will be.

If out of budget, downgrade your 17 inch rim to 16 inch and use Continental CC6 instead.

Other things you might need to change for your 2013 Suprima is the absorber. Change all 4 include absorber mountings and bump stops. Around RM1k

Then change all 4 mounting on the engine and transmission. All 4. Not just 2. Most people change 2 only. Change all 4 and notice the different.

Then make sure use quality engine oil ( recommended fully synthetic ) and change every 7k km for smoothers and quieter engine.

Not to forget plss change your CVT oil earlier and do a clutch adaptation.

Soundproofing is the last thing you wanna do as its expensive and sometime the result is not up to your expectations after paying so much.

Cheaper alternative is you try going for door soundproof first. Search VibraMat on FB. Cheap. Try ask them to do 3 layer instead of 1.

agree with the rim size downgrade, helps a lot with road noise.

Soundproofing must be done by design.

Thanks for the heads-up.. managed to Whatsapp that branch in Glenmarie, indeed it is not cheap. Total was quoted about 2.5k+  mega_shok.gif

Will ask for others to quote as well... thanks

Don’t waste your money on KL auto.

They will use words like “proven” and “definite”

After doing, they’ll start with words like, “not happy, we can tweak”. This will waste your time.

I am wondering...will the foams causes the car body to be too solid and can't even absorb the collision force?  hmm.gif

(Because like our car bumpers mostly are soft and bendable)
*
Do you really think that foam will be harder than steel used for cars?

Snake oil la chassis foaming.

I dont see Lambo, Porsches, Ferrari using this revolutionary product.

if you got the extra cash to splash, dont waste it on foaming, just donate (for karma points!)

For sure i will not tempered something that car manufacturer wouldn't do.

A video from Bobby Ang in KL Auto, showing the foam in a plastic bottle that became solid hard, no room for bending.

And this leads me wondering about the collision force...did someone notice that?  hmm.gif

Bobby Ang will say anything people ask him to say.

He cant really offend car manufacturers and industry players. As he wants to continue getting cars for reviews and products to recommend. Bread and butter le..

I've personally done auto foam by KL Auto for 2 of my cars last time.

1st was a Volvo S40. I did it on this car because was in need to improve the handling as it was quite floaty feeling. It did improve a bit but I feel that the road handling is like having near to adjustables, quite 'hard'. It didn't really improve the NVH as the Volvo is quite good at it already.

2nd was on a Subaru Impreza V10. Now, the handling of this car is superb but NVH is really bad. So, I did the autofoam + sound dampening. Cost overall is about RM 3k or something. Ride became harsher and NVH improved by perhaps 10 - 20%. Wasn't significant enough.

Anyway, will I do it again? I don't think so.

Why? Because 1st - Desmond is just a salesman with a GREAT BIG EGO. 2nd, if you don't like the setup after autofoam, you CANNOT remove it! You'll need to live with it till you sell off the car. 3rd, I'd rather spend my money else where than giving it to KL Auto.

tq.

Well, at least you felt "some" improvement for your car.

I have advised many of my friends never to believe foaming as it cant be the solution to noise transmission to cabin.

Mercedes S class to Lexus LS, never will they foam their rigid chassis as it is the law of diminishing returns and that's not where the noise intrude into the cabin.

Imagine, you stay in a house next to a highway, do you increase the pillar strength or do you get thicker glass pane to reduce road noise?

"Those" fellas from KL Auto are well trained. They are salesmen for sure.

Hear it from me, 9/9 of my friends will never do Autofoam again. 12/14 friends wont do soundproofing again.

The best solution for road noise, change your tyres

Best solution for wind noise, change to acoustic windows

Best solution for handling, hate to say it, anti-roll bars, but you lose ride quality

Best solution for comfort, downsize your rims.

I didn't bother about what he says, but in his video, he shows something he found in KL Auto.

Comparison of 325ml Sprite bottles filled with and without foam, few inches hollow steels filled with and without foam, Those foamed one makes lesser sound when being thrown onto ground.

Back to my question, can someone proof (by scientific view), whether it will affect the collision absorption compare to the not foamed one?
*
can foam of that density (max 30kgs per car) absorb force of min. 900kgs (assuming the lightest of cars)

If doesnt work and that is why no one is using this technology.

So what if metal makes lesser noise when thrown on the floor? Doesnt mean anything. can foam with tensile strength of a few tenths of Pa be as strong as steel few kPa

Chassis foaming is scam.

If that is what you want to know.
