I'm having doubts on BNM by the way they enforce something, if they were good, there wouldn't be issues like merchants imposing minimum amount for card payments. They provided a solution to report the merchants, but it doesn't help much but giving hassle to those who really wanna report, and those who wanna report will choose to give up instead because it's a waste of time.
Also, it's hard to change the mindset of the majority when they're heavy reliant on cash. Most here will only try out something when there's hype or benefits, if you've seen the discussion thread for Boost in Kopitiam section, you will notice that 8/10 of the discussions are just about the cashback, that's the example of how the society thinks. Surely, I can't generalize by just judging on one discussion thread, but it's true.
yeah, there's not enough protection for the consumers and users. Also, it's hard to change the mindset of the majority when they're heavy reliant on cash. some merchants are still pushing the surcharge to customers and BNM ask customers to report with receipt, which means you have to pay the surcharge and there wont be a refund. then BNM will send someone to check up on the merchants, but thats about it. end up ppl will just resort to cash
