Hi guys,

When I tried to receive fund in RMB from someone, a window pops up and says "According to local law requirements, you need to complete your identity information by adding a Mainland China Type-1 bank card in order to continue using Wechat Pay. To confirm your bank card type, call your bank's customer service."

Anyone knows the workaround for this? Do I really need to add a china bank card in order to receive RMB?
Any type of help is much appreciated. biggrin.gif

Ya you need a debit card issued in China to use WechatPay China wallet (RMB). You are currently using WechatPay Malaysia wallet (Ringgit).

Thanks for your reply. So WechatPay China and WechatPay Malaysia are not compatible. The fund cannot be transferred between them.
Just curious, does Angbao work in between them? Like WechatPay China send Angpao in RMB, can WechatPay Malaysia user accept it?

If WechatPay China can send RMB Angpao to WechatPay Malaysia wallet, and WechatPay Malaysia can send RM Angpao to WechatPay China wallet,
then WechatPay Malaysia will come to live. Now this Malaysian edition of the wallet can considered almost dead.

Haha, I see. I didnt know Malaysia WechatPay is dead. XD

Wechatpay CN and Wechatpay MY are regulated by Chinese Govt and Bank Negara respectively. They are technically separated. Angpao in RMB - > Wechatpay CN. Angpao in RM - > Wechatpay MY.

Similarly, Alipay (Zi Fu Bao) China, both TNG wallet (owned by Alipay and CIMB) and Lazada Wallet (Alipay Malaysia) are not "compatible" with Zi Fu Bao CN.

Thanks a lot for the clarification! thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

Nolah it is still there, not dead. But if you go see their FB, it becomes a page where it only sends greetings to users during festivals. Nothing on wallet promotions or freebies. Even when you ask questions they always answer in a secretive way as if other users no need to know the answer. I dont know what their FB page is for. Their official account is also inactive. Isnt it sarcastic? Being a Wechat Pay Wallet but not making full use of its wechat official account?
Feedback many times but they kept on like this. How users want to support?

It is like they dont plan to properly expand into Malaysia market haha. Just wish one day we can transfer RMB between the wallets XD
