I have been holding off finishing Half Life Alyx since my 1070 Ti can only smoothly run it on mostly low settings with stutters sometimes during busy scenes... which is not ideal when you want to be fully immersed in VR.
Really want to get a 3070 or 3080 but the prices are looking ridiculous. Sigh
Yeah lol... And I just picked up a 2TB mx500 SATA SSD, so I don't need so much storage.. it will probably be 1 or 2 years before we see true next gen games that utilize the ultra fast storage/read speed

i tot pcie gen 4 only on amd side.. am i wrong?
Yeah only AMD supports PCIE 4 now, intel should be soon? No idea.
I'll be reusing my casing, remove the ssd cage and hdd cage to allow better airflow from bottom and side fans to the GPUs, then put the ssd and hdd to 5.25" drive slot with caddies
My current case (inwin 301), has only 310mm GPU clearance, and the PSU clearance is also very short since the drive bays cut them by 30%.. cable management is also very bad in this case, and I only have 1 rear exhaust fan...
So instead of headache need to buy new fans, look for compact PSU, look for shorter GPUs etc etc, a new case solve all the problems above.
Besides I'm currently running a gigabyte b350m be ds2 board that doesn't even support nvme SSDs and only has 2 DIMM slots lol. It served me well all this time. Went from Ryzen 1200/GTX1050 to Ryzen 3700x/GTX1070 ti on the same board
ok some more info alot ppl dont know. last 15 years before turing.. MY distro/resellers will F dat nda .. and we get it on our hands.
turing.. nvidia asia pac step in and control gpu allocation to the country. all brands had to follow. and the Fed MY big time with few giga models and some asus dual models etc.. no FE cards
i want FE card or strix. its da only two i want. dis 3080 so overpowered even throttling da card is fine for me. resellers idealtech u can forget it. their internal customer builds demand so high all aib cannot even fullfill them. wont be suprised idealtech becomes a distro for them self .. question is which brand.. so they will tahpau alot of the first few batch.
i just hope they can produce alot. fed up with this wait shit. running to da shop. etc
Hmm alright then, have to wait for the official availability from the different brands.
I am tired of the frame stutters and low/medium settings with my 1070 TI in VR gaming. 3080 seems like a beast. The new reddit AMA revealed that 3080 can run RDR2 in 4K max settings 60 fps. That's huge.
In order to do this, you need a very powerful GPU with high speed memory and enough memory to meet the needs of the games. A few examples - if you look at Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Metro Exodus, Wolfenstein Youngblood, Gears of War 5, Borderlands 3 and Red Dead Redemption 2 running on a 3080 at 4k with Max settings (including any applicable high res texture packs) and RTX On, when the game supports it, you get in the range of 60-100fps and use anywhere from 4GB to 6GB of memory.
Extra memory is always nice to have but it would increase the price of the graphics card, so we need to find the right balance.
650w PSU okay for 3080? Hope I'm not taking a huge risk lol.
Depends on your PSU quality.
Been using a 500W PSU for my R7 3700x and 1070ti setup (inherited from my original budget gaming PC built by idealtech) , in theory its very sufficient given that 3700x is only 65W TDP, but its loud and inefficient.
I just built a new PC with the same parts but with a 750W PSU (to prepare for 3080) and some new SSDs, now its totally quiet and I don't regret a single cent upgrading the PSU.
So, just stick to 750W if you have the cash to spare, or wait for reviews by users in reddit etc when 3080 comes out

New Oculus Quest 2 headset is 4K resolution. 3080 will be a great card to drive it, especially when VR games are higher fidelity and requirements than normal flat screen games
and dis 1. dual bios. da no oc version already oced. lol 2. dedicated heatsink on vrm 3. asus extreme automation normally reserved for strix.. those who had 1080ti poseidon, 2080/2080ti strix will understand how da pcb looks. work of art 4. all asus cards 3080 are 19.5gbs on vram 5. 29.9cm 6. extra hdmi
zotac.. slap on cooler .. so damnit. asus just changed on website. 3080 now 19gbps
I have a Zotac 1070 Ti Mini, and its been working fine so far for VR gaming etc aside from some coil whine. No experience with these high end cards before.. Hmm. The Asus TUF sounds good from what you mentioned few days ago, about full automation etc. Will go for that then if Lazada sells it later at 9pm
