What should be the normal idle fan speed and temperature for GPU?

I just bought MSI GTX 1660 Super and I am happy with the performance. But i noticed that the fan noise is slightly louder than my previous GPU (Radeon 7850 HD).

Using MSI afterburner, my idle fan speed is at 41% and the idle GPU temp is 24C (75F). This is the default setting. I am wondering if I should lower the fan speed to a certain range?

I am using Corsair GS600 if that helps
*
You can lower the fan curve a bit, for example, 24c should be 10%, 40c raise a bit, 25 or 35%, and so on, until the max,

Do you know how can I reduce my fan speed using MSI Afterburner?

I notice that with fan speed at 41% it is at the most left side of the range, which mean I can't lower the fan speed %, only increase it.

It's in the auto mode where the fan speed are regulated by the GPU.
You can edit the fan curve by clicking the gear icon, https://www.pcgamer.com/how-to-customize-gp...si-afterburner/

It might or might not work at all, because it depends on the drivers, new driver usually will break stuff.

You can try to feedback to MSI team.

It's weird that GTX 1660 default fan speed is 40%, while VEGA running in silent mode all the time no matter what game im running lol sweat.gif

Ya, mine really cant change.

Another guy from Reddit with this GPU has the same issue

try to feedback to MSI team, im pretty sure such low temp dont even need to runs at 1500rpm.
dual fan gpu even worst, at certain fan speed both might produce resonant noise.

flash modded bios is last resort.

Which brand of nvidia card allow GPU fan to manually turn down ?
I found most zotac card are set as default and unable to reduce the speed. So I think Avoid Zotac atm until they have vbios fix for fan speed.
No matter afterburner and other software it'll stay at 45% which is audible the fan noise. at 45% fan speed temp is below 35 at idle.
Mostly on idle state.

It maybe bios setting which set the fan speed not ableto reduce lower than 45% and I am quite sure no fix or mod for older 10 series gen card
*
i think older nividia card sweat.gif
it's pretttty stupid for not being able control the fan curve of your gpu, i mean, now AMD even let user to adjust the fan speed curve with their own software, inside the Catalyst.

if the nvidia card use standard 4 pins fan connector, you can reduce the 12v to 7 even 5V, but you need external fan controller plus extra ugly fan cable lol sweat.gif
The fan power will be supplied by external fan controller, but pwm connection remains.

Is mini 2 pin. doh.gif
Can recommend me a silent 80cm fan ? noctua ? but can't find any 80cm and it's expensive.Any other recommand ?
*
why specifically 80mm? if 92mm, you can try this https://www.amazon.com/DS09225R12H-92mm-25m...g/dp/B0099TT7KW
but it need to be regulated by PWM controller as the fan speed is really fast, voltage control is possible but will be as silent as pwm control.

Smaller , quieter ? from amazon oversea , any recommend on laz or shope for cheaper price ?
What does this notes mean  ?

Direct convert molex to 4 pin will damage the fan ?
*
smaller but weaker, small fan has higher pitch noise lol.
if your fan is 5v but direct connection, you better make sure its 5v, else it will burn.

Any example ? Normally molex to 4/3 pin is how many v?

Using this will burn ? not 5v ?

Will this fan speed controller burn it too ?

Pascal , I even search for those low wattage fan , zotac brand are known to have fan set at 45%.No fix at all.
https://www.reddit.com/r/ZOTAC/comments/5jg...nt_go_below_45/

How many of you got zotac brand able to set below 35% ?
If I plan to attach just on top or side , unplug build in gpu heatsink fan and replace with this ? anyone tried before ?

I gave answer in my earlier post already.
Get the 92mm AVC pwn fan, plug into mobo or fan controller, settled, no need to worries 12v or 5v.

Pwn fan can go down into 0% fan duty, usually 600 or 800 Rpm

3pin voltage fan can't do it because start up voltage is 5 to 7v.

Anyone updated to the latest Nvidia driver 451.58, on Win10 v2004, and tested the new HAGS Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling? I'm getting report that it improves smoothness in COD Warzone gameplay. I'm guessing it'll matter more for those running 4C/4T CPU?

https://www.anandtech.com/show/15880/nvidia...ware-scheduling
*
a temporary workaround is to increase the program priority, i always does this to Borderlands 3, it's quite a hassle but it helps a lot because my CPU is just quad core potato.

I actually find the latest flagship phones to be way overpriced these days. More than RM 5k, you might as well use that money to pay for some property's booking fee, build a fancy PC (albeit a downgrade to a RTX 2060 or 2070), an XBOX One or PS4, gaming laptop or buy something more worthwhile for that amount of money.

Kinda miss those days when flaship phones are priced at RM 2k and below...
*
because no competition, just look at Intel CPU price before Ryzen appeared, majority are quad cores, absurd pricing, negligible performance increase between each generation.
and major security issue due to design oversight.

There's no need to buy such high end GPU, check review before buy, review site exist for a reason.
Also because 3d graphic optimization require a lot of expertise, if the game poorly optimized you will need to relies on GPU raw power.

If the game utilize proper renderer such as Vulkan paired with highly optimized code (Doom Eternal, Wolfenstein 2), mid end gpu already enough,

Price is "incredible" too!

Logitech G603 is another option.
*
As a previous owner of G603, dont get this mouse, it has the common omron switch problem, aka premature death and the outer shell is very thin which make left and right click very loud,
Get G604 instead, more buttons to customize like the old G602.

4K gaming is amazing, I'm using Moonlight (Nvidia GameStream protocol) streaming at 100mpbs bitrate to my 55" Sony OLED Android TV complete with HDR support.

Horizon Zero Dawn at 4K maxed settings+  HDR and locked 60ps, not even PS4 Pro can do that.

No issues with crashing on TUF 3080
*
This is pretty obvious, 3080 cost almost twice of the PS4 pro.
Plus PS4 pro still using the old CPU architecture from Bulldozer era and GCN GPU, both are squeezed into tiny APU sweat.gif

not to mention PS4 pro is a full system.

Today I just shopping more PC shop at JB shopping mall.

Actually plenty of GeForce RTX 3080, some shop even have RTX 3090 but mostly is Zotac brand or Gigabyte.

But ... ... all shop only selling this 3000 series card bundle with PC. Faint... ...
*
buy the cheapest pc with 3090, but the cheap pc use as download rig or nas... lol

Last time i bought 3700X also same, need to buy as bundle as it was their last 3700, but shop owner was easy to nego and let me buy.
it's very common tactic even here in SG.

the old Doom 2016 can run 5120x288 with 40fps with my old R3 1300x lool

highly optimized games are hard to come by.

lower price? it’s actually also harder to find than nvidias.

drivers are crap, much hotter, as you mentioned, no ray tracing and most importantly utterly useless apart from gaming and very very niche productivity suite that very few people use. cuz no CUDA for gpu acceleration

it can match only ampere assuming it’s bone stock while needing RAGE mode and SAM enabled and with DLSS and ray tracing off. But very soon ampere will have BAR support which will blow it away.
*
In singapore got plenty, 6800 to 6900XT, but the price is kind of absurd, 3 slot ect... wait next gen may be lol

For Resizable BAR, we should thank AMD for promoting the feature lol, luckily it's not AMD exclusive, but it's been part of PCIE 3.0 standard since 2016.

On gaming prospective, so far 6800XT still have better FPS performance compare with 3080, especially my focus is on 1440P only. However RT and DLSS2.0 is the main reason that i hold 3080, until now AMD still dont release any info on their "super resolution" tech.

But when u bring in CUDA, then 6800XT definitely no advantage on NV proprietary stuff.
*
They will, when game developer added it to their new game. but as always, there are not much game actually support AMD specific feature, there's no point for AMD releasing DirectML if no game developer are interested to implement it into their new game.
Why devs, even hardware such as LCD manufacture are more willing to support nvidia? https://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/videocard/

Unless the features work on Nvidia too, eg, Vulkan, FidelityFX CAS, FreeSync, ect.
