You can choose between air or liquid (extra RM100).

Omg. R12 extended wait another month. sad.gif
It shows how bad the shortage is.

I thought yours in production already?
When is the estimated shipping date?

seems like in production doesn't mean they have parts. May 20 now.

I guess that few day earlier does make a different.
Do you intend to transplant the GPU into another system considering the memory bottleneck?

Crosspost here from hardware thread since more people discussing about Alienware.

How bad is the memory bottleneck for normal 1440p gaming? I also have one R12 (i7-11700F, 3080, 32GB 3200MHz RAM) waiting in production.

Paid almost RM9k for it  cry.gif  sad to hear got this issue.
*
Same spec as mine lol. Let's put it this way, the system cannot process beyond 130 FPS even with FPS off.

Unless you are playing competitive gaming that can go above 200 FPS, most games can only do 100+ FPS at 1440p so you didn't really lose out a lot. But you know you could have gotten more FPS if they built it correctly.

You paid 8.9k for 1 year warranty?

Raise a case with Dell with supporting evidence. The more people has a support case, then Dell will need to rectify it. Anyway, there’s some light at the end of the tunnel for this issue. According to this post, Dell will release a fix soon.

That is if they can fix it using software or BIOS. I am not sure what causes the issue, whether it is just a poor timing by the motherboard or the motherboard itself is bad.

I posted an update on the hardware thread (copy pasta):

Dell support called me back (I raised a ticket). Dell is aware of the issue and is working on a fix. They said there will be a BIOS update (~1 week).
If you guys haven't done so, do raise a support ticket so that more people can corroborate this. So far I've not seen anyone else posting this.

What I did was I linked the reddit thread & the Dell Forum thread to support and ask them to look into it or I will cancel my order.

I took 3 years in-home service warranty on forumers advice. I also have the liquid cooling version.
*
Ok, let's see. I raised a ticket on my issue getting half of the frame rate too. But they asked me to do simple diagnostic like update the firmware, drivers, and scan for issues. Didn't resolve my issues at all.

Haha

Back then why did you not purchase 100 3080 and sell it today? If you did that you would be millionaire by now
You talk like people can predict the future price LMAO
No need to trash talk if people can't buy card with MSRP
*
He is trying to flex how smart he is.

If I know what would happen today in December last year, I would have purchased Ethereum for RM2k per coin and selling now for RM15k a piece.

For the price of 1 RTX 3060 Ti back then, I can afford a RTX 3080 with a system even with today's price.

I held back my purchase back then because I am not usually a first batch buyer, plus back then 3080 had a bit of overblown 3080 capacitor issue. Sometimes waiting can be a good choice, but yeah not in this case.

I think both of you are not clear on my target audience of my post.

"People who claim they couldn't get an MSRP card LAST year in 2020, even when they were prepared to purchase LAST year."

Have it your way.
*
Look, we get your point. They get your point too.

They made a mistake, and you made a good choice. Bad for them and good for you.

Do you need to rub salts into their wound? That's what we are trying to tell you.

OK lah, after some thoughts, I think will proceed with the following order with Dell:

Sales rep said the lead time for 3080 is now 13 weeks dry.gif
*
On the bright side, you got yourself a very good rate.
I have similar specifications except no 4 years accidental warranty and I paid 8.9k. So you got it like RM400 cheaper than me.

I see, my update is as at this morning - sales rep just got an email update saying lead time has been increased to 13 weeks.
Another info, the bottleneck issue has been fixed via BIOS update, but they removed i9 1100KF as an option due to a BSOD issue. It will tentatively be made available again some time in June  smile.gif
*
I just updated the BIOS.

user posted image

It does improve my performance and it is now better than XMP disabled. But I think this is still done half way as the RAM is still not finely tuned as the latency is still high 91.6 ns (compared to around 50 ns for a good timing).

Shadow of Tomb Raider scored improved to 139 FPS compared to 110 FPS though.

Yes.

Accident warranty i think pretty useless. Desktop hardly will get damage that way. Unless laptop then yes.
For me i removed that warranty save abit.

No saving, mine still ended up more expensive than undine one

Here is the update.

I rebuilt the PC using only 3 components from Dell, the CPU, the RAM, and GPU.
I used ASUS Strix Z590-A Gaming.

Here is the result.

user posted image

I don't know if I did it wrong, but I am unable to increase the clock speed or tighten the timing after raising the voltage to 1.4V.
The best I can do is push 3200 MHz to CL19 (XMP profile is CL20 for this).

My Shadow of the Tomb jumped to 151 FPS @ 1080p (compared to 110 FPS @ 1080p when I first got my Dell).
The motherboard also removes the TDP limit of 65 W, allowing all cores to boost to 4.4 GHz at all times.

Would changing the stock thermal pad make any improvement on the temp? Refer first picture https://imgur.com/a/gpIOeKR.

Now my R12 become botak version, just to get more airflow into the rig.

IF my GPU dies *touchwood*, I would just have to re-open my GPU and paste back the sticker right back and ask Dell to replace back the GPU?  rolleyes.gif
*
I actually pasted the stickers at the cooler instead. I had a chat with Dell's technician, they seem to be fine with me repasting it, as long as I don't damage the card. However the Dell technician provides entry level support which most of the members in this forum can do better job than them.

I have reverted back to XMP profile.
Currently, RAM is 1.248V and VCCIO is 1.072 V.

How do I see VCCSA?

Value RAM or performance? Default speed 2400mhz or lower? Maybe 🤔

Kingston HyperX Fury, 2666 MHz I believe.

Not exactly performance as it is so hard to either go beyond 3200 MHz or timing below 19.

Seems to be little discussion about 3080 Ti, despite some availability in Shopee and Lazada.

Anyone is getting a 3080 Ti?

Car's problem is that they let go out their allocated manufacturing capacity due to Covid. They didn't expect car sales to recover and pick up so fast.

This is their own forecasting problem.

Ill be kinda screwed if it takes an extra month larh since ii am not gonna be here, if they delay I will cancel the order LOL

I just took the 1 year in home warranty (apparently its just extra) and I could have not taken that as well, but since 80 ash extra I was like why not. I am buying just for the GPU, I will sell everything else. 8226 total.
