Diets & Supplements Pre workout supplements, what do you take?

Guys, I am researching on the pre workout supplements. Basically I am looking to increase my energy and also to burn fats and sweat more. Do you guys take any pre workout supplements, and if you do, what do you take and its effects (after workout) on you?

I am skeptical in taking supplements as well especially they mostly comes with caffeine; didn't want that jittery sensation too. Any natural/shake that you all take instead?

Just bananas and coffee for me. I see lots of advanced lifters take BCCA though. Wish these supplements are cheaper. cry.gif

Mostly some of the mass gainer has contained creatine, however you can still purchase the Creatine but it has high water level (Monohydrate) and you dont know how good/reliable the product is,
The creatine has many type for good and bad ranking, most of the shop are not able to advise unless you try it out if the product works for you,

Problem is I usually don't have the time in the office to prep/take a meal before my workout hence I am exploring shake/supplement... sorry, still at the beginning stage and will read and understand more. As I do a lot of intense workout, often I find that I do not have the stamina especially on the weekday nights. Saturday session is a lot better as I had the time to arrange my meals before and after the workout.

Hi! Thanks for sharing!

I’m interested to understand this but upon googling there’s too much info and not quite sure which opinions you’re on.

So far I’ve found out that pure protein diet promotes gluconeogenesis. Thus do you mean that this might reduce the protein meant for building of mass?

If I’m not on the right track, could you share a simple explaination which I can read up further or a link which I can reference?

No, no, no. Being on a pure protein diet does not have that effect (restricting MPS) to my knowledge. Gluconeogenesis is the process where your body (liver) produces glucose from non-carbohydrates. One reason this occurs is because our body needs glucose to maintain stable blood sugar levels.

Try looking up articles\videos by Layne Norton. He did his theses on proteins.

Please do note that I'm a newbie as well, so I too am prone to err.

I don't take any pre-workout supplements. To me 1 hour before workout, I usually take in lots of carbs (rice, veggie, lean meats, banana etc) to fuel my workout. I only consume supplements right after my workout.

Increase your energy & stamina then you can do more = burn more fats & sweat more. No shortcut, just effort & time.

Best supplement is Creatine. Can hit more reps.

Pre-workout (if no time), can take coffee and banana.

Best intra-workout >

Pre-workout supplements! Feel free to waste your money if you have cash burning a hole in your pocket. There is an old saying, Bodies are made in kitchen or You are what you eat. Instead of looking for such shortcuts work on a proper balanced diet coupled with ample rest. Supplements arent exactly magic pills.

I train during lunch hour. I have minimum time to train, minimum time to eat. You have a choice. Either you eat or you do not eat. If you choose to eat, prioritise. If you choose not to eat, make your body get used to training with no food. Your body will get used to whatever changes you make it go through in that 1 hour in gym, but make sure you reward it adequately afterwards.
