Wow, did you guys read this:

https://www.football-italia.net/118508/buff...id-juventus-jet

It’s reported that Gianluigi Buffon and Massimiliano Allegri paid out of their own pockets for a private jet to take Juventus to Davide Astori’s funeral.

The Bianconeri played Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League last Wednesday, with the Fiorentina captain’s funeral the following day.

A delegation from Juve nonetheless managed to attend the final farewell to Astori, and were greeted with applause and gratitude from the Viola fans, despite the intense rivalry between the teams.

Now La Nazione is reporting that after the Spurs game, Buffon told his teammates in the dressing room that there was a private plane to take them to Florence for the funeral.

The goalkeeper told his teammates that anyone wishing to attend should meet in the hotel lobby at 4.30am, while stating that he understood if people wanted to sleep after such a tough match.

In the event all of the players turned up in the lobby, but there wasn't enough space on the plane for everyone to go.

The newspaper believes that Buffon and Allegri paid out of their own pockets for the 12-seater jet, meeting up with Federico Bernardeschi when the delegation reached Florence.

La Nazione also reports that the police proposed that Juventus enter the Basilica di Santa Croce by a back entrance, but Buffon urged all his teammates to walk around the front to show their solidarity with the people of Florence.

The story hasn't been confirmed, but Buffon did thank the Fiorentina fans for their reaction to the Juventus players' arrival.

It appears that our opponents will only consist of either RM, BM or Sevilla

correction

in the quarter final stage its a "free for all"

any team can face any team, be it from the same country, or the same group from earlier stage

My early prediction barca, bayern and liverpool will move to semi. Ours are tricky. Madrid will push ucl harder as i dont think they can catch barca in liga. Liverpool somehow they hv the ucl luck since the last time i remembered them.

Nah, a 2 legs tie is forever easier to deal with comparing the grand final. Hopefully our injured players will be back in action by then. With current form of La Joya and Pipita we might get to cruise further

lets face it, with their current form, and their triumph in UCL back to back, any team would be the underdog against Real Madrid (perhaps
maybe the current Barca team) in UCL currently

but as history suggest, deep inside, they (true Real Madrid fans, not the bandwagon jumpers/cristiano fangirls) know, the last team they want to face in
knockout stage, is probably Juve. So lets keep our finger crossed. Both team with a different path in domestic competition (Juve fighting for
Scudetto & Coppa, while Madrid already out of both race), but still, if there's one team that wanted that UCL as bad as Madrid, its Juve

I've got to agree about the bit where they wouldn't really want to face us in the UCL either, especially at the later stages.

Both teams have a history together, Real edging us by just one win if I'm not mistaken. But save for the 97/98 and 2016/2017 finals, we've also had our fair share of wins against them, for me the most memorable ones being in the semis in 2003, round of 16 in 2008/2009, (that standing ovation for Del Piero at the Bernabeu still gives me the chills), and semis again in 2014/2015.

A one-off game is totally different from a 2 legged tie as I think many will agree, but at the same time it can also be argued that Real came out on top when it really mattered, i.e. the 97/98 and 16/17 finals. I'm not sure if playing at home first for us will be an advantage. We must draw first blood, hold our own, keep a clean sheet and if possible hit them fast with at least a 2-0 score line. Then at the Bernabeu we have the advantage of potentially scoring away goals. Easier said than done of course.

I don't know if we'll have Bernadeschi back in time; we sure could use his creativity, pace and aggressiveness for a tie like this.

97/98, Juve were unlucky. The better team, but losing to Mijatovic offside goal. Still pisses me off to this dat

16/17, Juve the better team in the first half. And then...a horrendous 2nd half. Bad memories

well, for the past season when Juve reached the UCL final, most of the tie has been played first in Turin

vs Dortmund
vs Monaco
vs Real Madrid
vs Barcelona

i think our talisman Dybala & Costa gonna play a very large role to try to breakdown Real defense. Higuain ineffective if he got isolated
Having Berna on the team would help a lot also. We lacked a typical offensive winger the last time against Madrid, now we've 2 of em

the last time Barca beat us in the final, we took em out in quarter final a year later. Now, its a similar situation with Madrid. Lets hope. Forza Juve

97/98 Final, sigh, what can I say.

16/17, meltdown during half-time team talk confused.gif

As you mentioned some key players to breakdown the Real defense, I really hope we have a full and fresh team to choose from.

Just realised we have Milan before the first leg shocking.gif

well, 2 points dropped instead of a point gain, to put more pressure on Napoli (7pts lead would affect their mental as well)...

missed opportunity..

Really wanted a win but our players must be quite exhausted.

Can't help but feel we could've really stretched our lead.

Hopefully this international break will do good to recharge our batteries.

to be honest im still traumatized for our UCL lost to RM last season, everythings was superb until the final. 3 finals since i followed juve, and we lost all. still remembered the lost to milan in penalties, then barca then RM. the last time we won was in 1996, im just 10 yrs old at the time and no nothing bout football clubs other the MU. im still waiting for the day i will celebrating us as champion of the champions. will this year be it i dont know, realistically i can only hope but moderately. the pain of losing last season hits me hard.

now the best way i see if we win this tournament is beating RM, then Bayern in semi and then Barca in the final. perfect revenge. i have grudge with these 3 laugh.gif forza Juve.
