A month ago, I had advertised my ASUS A8N32-SLI motherboard for sale.

This board was advertised as new as it was sent for a warranty claim and the supplier mentioned to me that ASUS will replace it with a new board.

I had got a buyer who was interested and it's hehee:).

Whilst then I was subjected to my usual contract job and had to leave town for about 3 weeks & was unable to collect the board from the supplier.

I mentioned to him that I can't sell him the board as I'm not around and told him unless he wants to wait.

Since my employer delayed my trip stay from a week to close to 3 weeks, I had to postpone the deal & I felt bad that he was waiting so I told him to buy it from someone else and if he waits, I'll give him a RM25 discount (this was during the 2nd week).

He insisted that he's a gentleman and said that he would wait and didn't need the discount but I coaxed him to buy elsewhere as I wasn't sure when I would be back.

He said ok but he eventually waited to get mine.

Today (8th May), I had collected the board from the supplier (I was re-assured by the supplier that it was working perfectly before signing their invoice) & passed it to hehee:) that same day.

I had also included all the proof that the board was replaced by providing the new warranty packaging and all the invoices for the warranty claim, which contain the dates in when the board was collected, all for his use.

The deal was made for RM515 as he didn't have change for the discounted price of RM525.

He calls me up in several hours later and tells me that one of the Gigabit LAN port can only work at 100Mbps and is encountering BSOD's while using RAID.

He asks me about the warranty and I tell him that it can be done with the supplier & I can provide all the relevant information.

Later, he SMSes me today midnight and tells me that he wants he full refund due to these issues.

So I told him sorry I can't give a refund because I've already mentioned in my thread warranty by manufacturer however I can help him get in touch with the supplier.

He complains and states that I sold him a defective board & that I was dishonest, etc.

I would want the buyer to enjoy the product sold as intended but I cannot facilitate requests that I never mentioned and agreed like a full refund.

I could call up the supplier and speak to him so that the supplier could explain & deal with hehee:) ASAP.

Furthermore, there could be various factors to why the board may be causing these issues such as old drivers and outdated BIOS & NOT necessarily being faulty.

UPDATE :- Upon looking through the ASUS Support Site (BIOS), I've noted that the newer BIOSes have some fixes for the problems hehee:) mentioned.

ok - i believe you just want our feedback only, right?

my thoughts are as follow

1. explain to him, since he insisted he's a gentleman therefore i believe he's ok to reasoning

2. highlight the point that you already stated that you are collecting it from RMA and you sold it to him as it is - no dishonesty involved.

3. explain to him that you already stated any warranty issues is with the supplier.

on the other hand, he waited that long for the board so i understand he might be frustrated about it. even though you didn't mention it as a condition for your trade, it wouldn't hurt to breach your own condition (either by refunding, or by offering help to send to RMA again) to avoid a more grevious conflict.

how about that?

or if you're willing, just bring the board back and offer to try to help configure / setup and see if he missed out any steps or whatsoever to make it run.

1) i explained very well but i guess he's upset. however, he's not that a gentleman as first he agreed to to pay the full amount then upon COD, he insist the discount + RM10 as he doesn't have change for 50 (he's trying his luck right?)

2) i mentioned this in many of my previous sms whilst those 3 weeks. i told him that i got a replacement RMA board.

3) i've mentioned this too and i'm willing to help him with the RMA but i guess he can't wait.

furthermore, i was keen on throwing off the deal as i didnt want him to wait too long. he also did get a similar board from arc_archive & eventually mentioned that this was for his friend and both of them usually use the same stuff in their rigs. however, i can't be responsible if asus sent an item which has bugs otherwise it's like doing charity work. since there is warranty available so please use it instead. no one would give a refund for any product unless it's stated money back guarantee or full refund.

bro, i didn't expect it to be like this but he can't expect a refund la. if that's the case, anyone could fake or intentionally damage an item so that they get their money back (perhaps it was a wrong purchase or didn't perform as good as expected)

bro ultimately its just ure word against his
more credit to him rather than u

y
cause u did not check the mobo before u sold it...
u knew it was a replacement mobo and u should have checked it.

try to put ureself in that position. u cant use the guarantees of another to pass it on to the person u sold to. the guarantee has to come from u.
in this case if in ure initial thread u did not put any form of guarantee on ure part then u have a case of ethics only here.

Nothing wrong with the TS.

It's a new item replacement. If you test/check it, means that it will be a second hand item ..

if someone were to buy it new from retail shop, there will be one to one exchange within 7 days "if stock still available". Since buyer bought it "second hand" from TS at a cheaper price...WTF do you expect? What you pay is what you get. Just go RMA the damn thing.

That's the problem with people. Want to get cheap and expect everything to be okay. Never ever thought of the consequences until it hit them. Then only they start to panic and do something stupid. That's why sometimes people can sell something like for example, MP3player (no more warranty) for RM100 and MP3player (still got 2 months warranty) for RM100 also. People will buy that no more warranty thinking..."ahh...won't spoil lah....won't happen to me...mp3player seldom spoil lah". Then when spoil only starts to blame here blame there...crap bunch of cheapskate.

i dun see any wrong here..
well, since the board still has warranty from supplier, perhaps the buyer should just RMA it..rather than requesting on full refund which is pretty ridiculous..

TS, did u state anything about helping him RMA if anything goes wrong with the board?

anyway how about ask him to come here and explain his story? smile.gif

firstly, i'm only selling the item as an end-user and have mentioned that the warranty is from asus.

secondly,

GUARANTEE = product won't be defective during it's guarantee period, and IF it is either replaced or refunded (whichever mentioned)
WARRANTY = product will be RMA'd (repaired or replaced) during it's warranty period once defective (whichever mentioned)

Unless, i manufacture or supply motherboards, i would be glad to cater the warranty personally, but i'm not.

TO THE REST : TQ all. Most of you have mentioned how I am feeling about the issue now. It's I don't want to make hehee:) suffer but I can't be being too sweet about it as I didn't do anything.

TO HEHEE:) : Please update your BIOS before making any further complaints & post your screenie of CPU-Z (Motherboard). If the BIOS update solution doesn't help at all, just PM me and i'll help you to arrange an RMA with the supplier.

i dun like to explain too much.

1-i'm not rookie for pc hardware ...update bios ...check config..anyway the board doesn't work out...raid problem ,LAN problem...

2-i'm paying $515(after so call discount) for 2nd hand board (i don't think is cheap for 2nd hand mobo)
anyway i give him $550 he agree with $515 cause he got no change i didn't force...$515 and $525 make no deferent to me...i don't believe he bring it out.?

3-wat i'm trying to said his not honest cause he never mention the board under RMA he said the mobo with him...then keep dragging the COD time.truth is he haven't received board from RMA.(this board RMA 2times before from the receipt i saw)
and the RMA process actually give lots trouble and he might not get new board replacement.so he decide to sold the board then buyer will deal with the rest of trouble.and the board was defective...

4-i found him sometimes dun respone to my sms or call...i've no confidence give the board to him for RMA again.i prefer to do myself rather than someone not honest.

5-1st i ask for refund.he refused.i accepted ...i just mention i want to warn others to beware this kind of seller....but i didn't...then he start this thread....and try to get support ...maybe someone try to bend the true...

i'm not replying anymore to this thread,no point keep fighting for a mobo...anyway i'll RMA myself....if anyone feel i'm more like a victim just beware of this seller next time.

1. ain't a rookie heh? i called the supplier yesterday and he said that the board was already flashed to the latest bios already. it was also tested by their in house RMA dept in addition to asus of shanghai. so, what are u trying to pull?

2. who's the seller and buyer lol? u didn't force me to ask for rm515? u never mentioned 550 at all but i could see the extra 50 note in ur wallet and all u said was 'got discount right? and oh u got no change then can give more discountla'. anyways, i won't force a beggar to pay up.

3. i told u the board was replaced from rma only. i didnt have the board as i wasn't in town. when u claim RMA u can just ask the tech guy and he'll tell u that the board was ready but i didnt collect it for 2+ weeks. how in the world would u expect me to pass the board when i'm not in town lol whistling.gif as for the receipt, do u think i'm so stupid to give it to u to cheat u? i passed everything for any warranty claims & nothing more to it. as u can see in the receipt, the board was collected the same day as COD so do you think i had time to use it?

4. u sms like every minute. even my gf doesn't send that much sms in a day. it's like chatting via sms. as for the rma, do u think i'm gonna do ur chores for u? all i'm gonna help is to arrange a meeting with the supplier and be there myself, in case u get lost finding the place.

5. of course i refused. u think u can buy stuff and ask for refund if ur not happy? anyway, i told u if u were not interested u could always find another seller but i guess u did & eventually decided to stick with the other board instead of mine? rolleyes.gif

I'm not gonna waste my time trying to help you out anymore. If you want you can deal with the supplier (Alex @ 79562716). Be ready to lose ur face & regret throwing those words. Nevertheless, I've got a impeccable rep here and no puny complaint is going to tarnish it.
