Guys.. The Latest Firmware For Nokia N95 Is Out!!

I Have Successfully Updated Mine.. Currently Still Playing With The New Firmware.. Somehow I Manage To Lock With The Satellites When I Am Inside My House.. (Can See Black Bars Under Satellite Info)... I Am Amazed..

I Didn't Face That Problem Though... Anyone Notice The Gallery Button Will Blink Once Everytime The Screen Backlight Goes Off?

Exactly.. It's Waaaayyy Faster Now.. And We Can Get Satellite Lock IN The House (Means NOT Directly Point To The Sky).. Although The A-GPS Requires Data Connection, But The Total Send And Receive Is Only 6 Kb..! So It's Definitely Worth It If You Want To Get It Lock Fast...
Other Changes That I Have Noticed Are The 3.5G Icon (Not Sure Whether Is This New, But With This New Firmware I Can Get 3.5G Data Connection With Maxis), The Search Bug In The Contacts (Which Present In The Previous Firmware, But Not The 1st Firmware) Is Fixed.. Means To Search A Contact, You Can Either Key In The First Or The Last Name..
Now I Would Like To Know If There's Any Improvement For The Camera..

First Of All, I Was Refering To The GPS That Is Way Faster.. I Just Updated My Firmware To V 12.0.013 And The Assisted GPS That Is Present In The Latest Firmware Reduces The Time To Lock With The Satellites.. I Have No Problem With WLAN So Far.. Maybe Because My Wireless Access Point Is Set To "Unsecured".. Other Than That, I Also Tried A Few Free Wi-Fi Outside And They Work Perfectly Fine..

I'm Still Using The Maxis 64K SIM Card.. And I Manage To Get The 3.5G Icon When I Surf With "Maxis 3G WAP" Access Point... I Think The Settings Remain The Same As 3G, Just That You Need To Enable High Speed Packet Access (Tools-> Settings -> Connections -> Packet Data -> High Speed Packet Access -> Enabled)... Someone Mentioned In This Thread About Changing Some Settings That Involved PIN2 To Make 3.5G Work, But I'm Not Sure...

Sorry I Am Not On Unlimited Plan And Not Able To Test It Out.. But You Can Refer To The Screenshot That minde Posted..

To Configure The Assisted GPS, Go To Tools -> Settings -> General -> Positioning -> Positioning Server -> Access Point...
I Don't Face The Duplicated Access Points Problem Though.. As For The Apps That Cannot Be Opened, For My Case Mostly Are Java Applications.. What I Did Was To Reinstall The Application To Make It Work..

By The Way, I Left Out The Most Important Point In My Previous Post.. Must Be In 3.5G Area!

You Should Have Marked All Your Contacts And Select Copy -> To Memory Card.. That's One Very Easy Way To Backup Your Contacts.. To Restore, Go To Copy -> From Memory Card... I Didn't Use This Method Though... For Me, Firstly I Sync With iSync.. Then, Perform The Software Update For My N95... After The Update, I Just Need To Sync It Again With My Mac And All My Contacts And Calendar Entries Will Be Restored.. Alternatively You Can Use The Nokia Content Copier To Backup Your Data And Settings..

Loading The Maxis WAP Portal Is Free..

Erm.. The Methods Are Stated A Few Pages Back.. Try To Look Into It.. Basically After I Updated To V12, Without Any Change Of Settings, I Get The 3.5G When I Surf The Net With "Maxis 3G WAP" Access Point... (Provided In Area That Has HSDPA)

Yea.. As Far As I Know.. Only V12 Has The 3.5G Icon..
And For Your Information... The 3.5G Icon Will Only Appear When There's A Connected/Active Data Connection.. In Other Words.. You Still See The Usual 3G Icon On The Standby Screen Unless You Leave The Data Connection Active... I Am Still Using The Purple Colour 64K SIM Card..

Okay.. The Blinking Gallery Button... Only Exists In V12 Firmware..
When The Backlight Of The Screen Goes Off, At The Same Time The Gallery Button Blinks Once..


After A Few Seconds, It Blinks For The 2nd Time.. (Notice The Screensaver)


I Am Not Sure What's The Purpose Of This Blinking Gallery Button.. Some People From Other Forums Claimed That It Is A Bug..

So Far I Also Didn't Encounter Any Major Problem With V12.. I Noticed If You Use The Web Browser To Download Files, It Seems To Be Faster Now.. I Remember In The Previous Firmware.. The Download Always Stop And Then Continue.. Other Than That, The Volume Is Louder Now..
I Checked Out The Link To Fix The Slider.. It Looks Dangerous To Me.. I Don't Want To Hurt/Screw My N95.. I Would Prefer To Send It To Nokia Care Center To Fix It..

Hold The Pencil Key And Press Up/Down To Mark Items..

Other Than That.. You Can Also Use The Pencil To Highlight Text.. And Then Copy And Paste.. To Do That Simply Input Any Text, Then While Holding The Pencil Button, Press Left/Right.. The Text Will Be Highlighted.. Next, Press Copy.. To Paste The Text, Simply Hold The Pencil Button Again And Press Paste..
The Mark/Unmark Items With Pencil Key Also Works In The Gallery And File Manager.. It's Quite Useful.. Let's Say I Captured 3 Pictures And Want To Send Them To My Computer, I Just Need To Mark The 3 Items And Then Press The Green Call Key To Send...

Oh Ya, Last But Not Least, It Can Also Use To Switch Between Input Type And Input Languages..

I Tested The GPS For In Past 2 Days.. I Am Very Suprised At The Locking Speed With AGPS Enabled.. It Took LESS THAN 10 SECONDS For My N95 To Lock With The Satellites..

Some Of You Might Say That I Have "Warmed Up" The GPS Module Before That By Locking It With Satellites, And Then Quit It.. And If I Try To Lock It Again After A While, The Locking Speed Will Be Very Fast... But I Didn't Do That..

I Tried To Lock With The Satellites In The Morning.. While I Was In The Car.. I Navigated To Menu -> Tools -> GPS data -> Position... After That, It Establishes A Data Connection (This Is AGPS).. I Can See The 3.5G Icon With Active Data Transfer.. After A While, It Got Disconnected.. And In Less Than 10 Seconds, My N95 Is Locked With Satellites! I Am Totally Amazed! Last Time It Took Around 5 Minutes To Get The Lock.. But, I Didn't Jump To The Conclusion Straight Away.. I Tested Same Thing On The Next Day In The Afternoon And It Was The Same, Less Than 10 Seconds!!..

So Anyone Else With The Same Experience?
