should be the slider mechanism part...  shakehead.gif
laugh.gif like my 6288..u can even make the "ingk..ingk" tune out of it..  laugh.gif  laugh.gif
i totally understand how u feel.. nod.gif

Its not the factorys fault then who is the one to blame?

its either manufacturing error.. OR its meant to be like that..

like i said..i ask them to check my 6288.. they told me ITS LIKE THAT

Why dont NOKIA use the 5300 slider mechanism in all the slider phone..
imo, thats the most well built, tough, stable slider from nokia..with a lil spring somemore..
*
how about E65's slider? now im considering between e65 or n95...

i think with 3000.... nokia should at least give us the slide mechanism like the e65.

e65 is damn cheap n nokia give them good slide.. cis
*
yalo... why they give such bad build to n95... if not i'm sure n95 will have more buyer... now still consider either get n95 as my main phone or e65 as my 2nd phone... too bad I cant own both... tongue.gif

rayzrblade: thanks for the research that you've made regarding e65's slider. Thanks a lot notworthy.gif but for me, e65 only good as a 2nd phone for me, not as main phone sad.gif

then ur choice is obvious already .. laugh.gif
*
well I'm still deciding between both... if N95 has better build quality and better battery life, then I'm 110% sure will get it...

and there are also some factors that prevents me from getting e65, very low video recording resolution, missing front camera, poor back camera, unable to view full screen video, mono speaker... but it sure is the smallest and slimmest wifi phone afaik, very pocket-able, suitable to use as 2nd phone tongue.gif

bcos humans aint perfect, thus the products that they design/ make, aint perfect as well. nod.gif

But sometimes if a thing meets the requirement of someone, hence it will be perfect for that someone smile.gif

It price, battery and build quality is not an issue for you, then N95 will be a perfect device for you tongue.gif

Agreed. I am enjoying the phone very much now.

Tips - To save on the wear and tear (if any) to the slider, once in office I always put the phone on the table with the key pad open. This way, no need to open/close the slider everytime you wanna make a call. The phone will also on standby with key pad locked.
*
Hehe, did this on my W900i too... When at home or work, I leave the phone with swivel open, and till now the swivel is still in good condition smile.gif

1. moto portable charger
2. extra battery

what else u need to put in ur pocket.. just bcos of N95 ? laugh.gif

Nokia will really be humiliated if u bring a long a portable MOTO charger to charge their ever so powerful yet "not enough power" N95. laugh.gif  laugh.gif  biggrin.gif
*
lol, lets spread the words until nokia heard us tongue.gif

for me I would opt for extra battery instead of portable charger... at least n95's battery, i think is slim enough to slip it in my wallet... just remove the coins from my wallet tongue.gif

QUOTE(smashpOp @ Apr 13 2007, 11:29 AM)
for those who wants to convert any video files so that it plays nicely in your n95..

you may use this piece of software by Nokia

user posted image

Nokia Video Manager scans and converts any selected video file on your computer to mp4 format.  Conversion types include avi, mpeg, wmv and mov (DivX, XVid, MPEG-2 and  Quicktime codecs).

According to AllAboutSymbian, the current S60 devices that are capable of playing mp4 (H.264) are the N71, N73, N75, N76, N80, N91, N92, N93 and all S60 3rd Edition FP1 devices including the N95, 6290, 6110 and 5700.

As I'm writing this I'm also scanning my laptop for files to convert to the N95.  One thing I can tell you is that it does take a long long time and makes other running application perform very slow.  But then again I guess this depends on how much you have stored.

Get the Nokia Video Manager HERE

---------------

Minde... put this on page 1 also ok?

rmvb format not supported??

maybe we can inform nokia indirectly?? tongue.gif

send an email to nokia support... pretending to ask why n95 battery life so short... then ask is it ok to use MOTOROLA portable charger to charge your n95? tongue.gif i guess maybe later nokia will release a portable charger too bcoz of this tongue.gif

Added on April 14, 2007, 11:56 amAny n95 user here using gsm mode instead of dual mode? how long can the battery last?

if backlight is set to the lowest in gsm mode only, how long can the battery last on a single full charge under normal usage?

Managed to used the battery for 3 days (2.5 days to be exact). Pretty average phone use and fiddling with the phone function.

At the end of the third day - battery not yet die but almost so charge

My settings

Vibration off
GSM mode only
50% backlight
No tone key
*
wow, thats pretty good imo...

now my only concern for n95 is the slide mechanism... since its made of plastic... dunno after long term usage the plastic will break or not...

you want me to post u the links to those problems?  laugh.gif no la jokin..
*
haha, no need la, cause you posted it before. And one of the comments by the reviewer is that the sliding mechanism is made of those similar to drawer sliding... pro: better sliding, con: might not able to last long... and since n95 is still very new, no one can predict how the slider will be like after half year or 1 year of usage...

QUOTE(X-Zen @ Apr 14 2007, 03:24 PM)
I seriously doubt it would break la. Loose due to wear and tear possible la.

IMHO, ultimately it is still depending on how you you handle or take care of your phone.

It is like scared of scratch or dust (i know I am  sweat.gif ). It may happened or it may not happened but end of the day it will still be a kick ass functional phone and user variance may last till the next time you change phone.

Maybe this is my first Nseries phone but I am damn happy with it. It's multi capability function, excellent performance and intuitive interface.

Don't harp on it's weaknesses. Every devices have them. Heck even my PSP has dead pixel now  cry.gif. If you can look pass all that, you will enjoy your gadgets much much more.

Enjoy N95 for what it is. I know I am  icon_rolleyes.gif  thumbup.gif
*
If loose is still bearable, just don't break can already tongue.gif
like my previous p900, the screen plastic frame cracked , and I send it in for them to change the housing (still under warranty), they charged me for changing the front housing of my p900...

i think the icon still 3G. HSDPA still consider as 3G but +0.5 only. hehe 2cents.

and based on the service claim , i just say that most set slider very firm and tell them i tried 4 N95's edi . So should be no prob . Sometimes u gotta b***s*it alil to get some things in life . lolx .
*
hehe, hey minde, if you managed to get them change or tighten up your slider, let us here know. Hope to hear more good feedbacks from fellow N95 users here, so to convince myself to get a N95 tongue.gif

Anyone here know when N95 second batch will come? Hopefully the 2nd batch N95 can fix the slider problem and weird sound during voice call...
