.. just swapped to kailh box white. sometimes using these clicky switches are fine also lol
If you are looking to try clicky switches, then I think you should try the Box Navy. I don't have experience with that but it's really hot right now. It's also very heavy and the click bar sound is bitch loud. LOL.
Last night had a real scare when doing my switch lube and exchange. I actually snapped one of the hot swap sockets when I was pushing in the switch. Luckily, the important part of the socket is still intact. The connector pins and sockets all still functioning. Just black plastic housing broke.
Moral of the story, when you are sleepy AF, do not continue with your keyboard chores. hahaha... XD
The GK64 pcb does have the 2 mounting holes for PCB mounted switches. However, if you look closely, 1 of the hole is partly covered by the hot-swap sockets. Now, if you push it hard enough, the switch (5 legs PCB mounted version) will snap in place. That is after one of the leg pushes out the hot swap socket. T_T
i saw some of u said that the cherry stabs from ebay is the authentic one, i tried searching for it and come across this seller.. is this the one that sells the genuine cherry stabs?
bought a dz60 board from kbdfans and uses his assembly service.. too bad the stabs that comes with the board is a china knock off and they rattle.. read in reddit that the stabs is a lost cause n even lubing it will not remove the rattling.. was thinking to change it
Can't really 100% tell if those are genuine or knock offs but judging by his seller feedback, he should be okay. Anyway, how are you going to change the stabs since it's already assembled? I assume you will be re-soldering the whole board if you need to change the stabs. Unless I am mistaken.
yea..i'm planning to desolder it.. well by desolder it i mean hire someone since i dun have the equipment to desolder it xD oO..yea i think mine is the mount stabs.. maybe i need to recheck
So, if you are getting the screw in stabs, then you can just buy from kbdfans as well. GMK screw-in stabilizers They are the real deal and I am using them right now. Rattle be gone... hehehe...
you guys have any link where you buy the lubricant for lubing stabs and switches?
You can try Ace Hardware for Super Lube 21030. It's the grease type. This will be suitable for stabs. You can also use this for your switches but most veterans will advice against this. For proper switch lubrication, you can try Taobao. You can use a forwarder for Krytox GPL105. It's not cheap though. Good luck!
Anyone have any idea where can I get nylon M2 washer? Both black or white/transparent colour. Did a few round of searching online and most sellers also from foreign countries.
thx.. geez the price.. haha.. if i buy the 50g.. how many bottles do I need to get for a whole switches for 60 keyboard
A single 50g bottle is more than enough for a 60 board. I tried both Krytox and also Super Lube on my linear switches, in truth, it's not that much different from both of them. However, I can definitely say it's much easier applying Krytox compared to the grease type Super Lube. Anyway, I only tried on linear switches and nothing else.
i think you should take photos with caps on, then observes the alignment of each cap and case to make it more obvious.
I already had the caps on. The whole numbers row are with the box switches and the rest in Aliaz. You can already see that the number caps ar elining up straight. Each caps on the numbers row have a slight "rotated/bent" to it. The bottom right corner will not match the bottom left of the cap on it's right. If you know what I mean. And it's very consistent throughout. So, it's definitely design issue.
.. hm yours is a bit different from ours. i have both rev.1 and .2 pcbs. my rev.2 is the same as what quovadis123 has, i.e. the soldering work is clean.
The one I have: 25-16-K64BU-P01 K3V4 2017-11-04
The one on Kok Why: 25-16-K64BU-P01 K3V5 2017-12-05
imo these days there are way too many switch options for us to choose from. from cherry mx style switches, variants that have different designs, and then optical switches that are on the rise. technically each have their unique typing feels. if we play around with swapping parts (e.g. housing, springs, stems), we will have even more combos.
the rabbit hole is getting deeper lol
Yes... it's a trap. Mecha keyboard is a trap from the very beginning. I was naive. I was just a small boy back then. I should had listened to the words of the elders. Never venture into the forbidden realms... but the lure is too much. Once I feast my eyes on them, I know it's too late. Now just have to deal with it. Instant noodles is my staple food now. hahaha... okay laaa... not so dramatic la. However, once you get yourself a hot-swap board, then it's even worst. You wanna try so so so many different switches. T_T
