if you liked it, then go for it
it depends. the key idea of a foam mod is to fill up space with damping materials, so that it will give solid typing feel, and help getting rid of unwanted sound. the rest is about how to achieve this, while considering differences of your board, because there is always more than one way to achieve the same outcomes.

the space between a typical 1.5mm-thick top plate and pcb is 3.5mm. ideally, in such cases, the ideal plate foam is 3.5mm thick. 4mm foam can be used also, because you can compress it further to roughly 3.5mm before use. alternatively, you can use 3mm foam with single-sided adhesive (which is about 3.5mm).

what if your plate is 3mm or 4mm thick? you use 2mm or 1mm foam instead. the same applies to bottom case foam.

oooooooooooo so i need 1 foam between bottom case to pcb and another foam between pcb and plate. correct?

It's up to you. You can do either one only, or both.

Most people do the first one because it is an easy mod. The second requires all switches to be removed so that you can get the plate off which can be quite a lot of work if the keyboard is already fully assembled.

ooooooooo u mean have the cut all the shapes and holes precisely, i never thought of that xD.

Foaming the bottom case is not always a walk in the park either. Since I'm still waiting for my...you know, I'm slowly doing my bottom case. Some of the squares have 2 layers of foam. So far in this picture there are 40 individual pieces of foam that I have cut to fit the spaces. Still have at least 10 pieces to go.

Those with flat and empty bottom cases....be grateful.

shocking.gif what board is that. I think for my board, i only have to cut 1 whole piece, then cut out holes for screws etc

edit: btw, do u use all the 4mm foam u bought? if remainder not using, can sell me

Guys, I bought my first Mechanical Keyboard back in February, it was the Durgod K320- used one at quite a good price. Cherry red switches. Just want to share a bit of my experience. TBH it didn't turn up as how I thought it would be. The first impression is definitely good; well-made solidly build keyboard. Heavy. And the doubleshot pbt keycap simply is amazing attention to detail.

In term of typing experience.. I gave myself sometime to get use to it... I am only occasionally a gamer. Most of the time, I do normal typing(+-70wpm), and use with various softwares. After few months of using the keyboard, I think I can conclude that Cherry red Switch simply is not my favorite. I am not sure if I will like Blue or Brown switches. I thought gamer is swear by Red switches, but this 1-2 weeks I have been playing games more often, I found my finger rather tired, especially playing fps and car racing game, where I constantly have to press onto the "W" forward key. I feel like I need to use more force than i used to in compare to those typical membrane keyboard.

As for Typing, i also dont find it excel either... I think the best typing experience I had is the Razer Green Switch... I have tried a few Cherry Blue switch in the stores, and I still feel the razer green feels more "refined". I am thinking to replace my Durgod keyboard with smthing of a tactile keys... but I am a bit hesitate to go Razer as the build quality isn't as good , and the plastic keycap isnt doubleshot pbt which I really enjoy now. But at the same time, I think im more eager to trying out their green switch in my next keyboard.

Another mistake I made is that, I thought I will like the TKL layout... unfortunately for what I do, I really missed the numpad when needed,  I always like smaller footprint keyboard such as the 65% or TKL, for its compactness and look. Unfortunately I need both the F1-F12 function keys and occasionally numbpad.. Look like i just have to stuck with a Full size keyboard.

Any advice on what keyboard i should look for next? I really have been thinking maybe mechanical keyboard isnt the thing for me, and I considering jumping back to normal membrane keyboard sweat.gif such as the expensive logitech mxkeys. Before doing that, I like to give mechanical one more try, as I probably just choose the wrong switch.

btw, anyone interested to swap keyboard with me? I wan to experience different switches before investing in one that I really like. nod.gif

razer green switch actuation force = 55cN
mx red = 45cN
1 thing to highlight is razer green is tactile; mx red is linear. So maybe ur muscle memory are used to the tactile bump? maybe u should try tactile.
mx red is lighter than razer green lol, ur fingers shouldnt feel more fatigue.

membrane keyboard? :triggered: shakehead.gif ive been using laptop membranes keyboard since forever, until i hooked up with my brother's razer blackwidow 2013 which uses cherry mx blue. since then i just cant go back to membrane kb

membrane is shakehead.gif

MX blue bottom up is 60g which i feel quite heavy, so i buy 55g TX springs for brown switches. Correct right?
