hey peeps, how to put ringtone specific files into the phone or memory card without it showing up in the music player? it gets annoying when you are listening to music and suddenly the mosquito ringtone comes blaring out in your ears.
*
i have a little tip on this:

many of us have a style of playing music affected by winamp which is selecting a folder and then play it. but when we come to mobile mp3 player or phone like n73, this is not possible anymore because songs in such devices are listed by playlist, album, artist or just simply all track. how if our songs doesn't have those ID3 information? problem came when you're trying to look for the tracks that you've just copied without any ID3 information or your actual mp3 storing on memory card is by your favourite folder structure and you might want to play a certain folder only like in our old day winamp player.

what i suggest is to download id3 editor program like this: http://www.softsea.com/review/PZ-TagEditor.html

and set composer attribute of all mp3 files in a particular folder to your desire name and then run the n73 music player, go to composers and choose the name you put just now. i'm setting composer attribute instead of others like artist, album is because composer is less likely to be set in most mp3 files, normally this attribute is leaving empty.

regarding the mixing up ringtone with your desire songs, one may set the ringtone folder attribute as hidden then go n refresh your music library and ringtone files all gone.

Anyone know how to put song into the profile ? So far i only know Set to ringtones but how if i want to add song into the profile which mean i can choose my song over there and can set to message tones and video call tones..
*
any track in [memory card\sounds] folder will be displayed in profile ringtone selection list. if you make one of the folder inside sounds folder hidden, then it will not be able to display in the ringtone selection list. did you set the folder to hidden ?

can i have both the headset pics for n73 and n73ME? lol. i want to know how much is the diff of prices. thanks smile.gif
*
what i would say is they have diff color in front panel, keypad, and a small part of rear camera cover. if you think black color in those parts is not important for your choice, then just buy normal edition one , then upgrade to ME firmware (easy no worry) and also buy a 2GB memory card which cost around Rm 65 only. by doing so you can save much.

another diff is the headset with remote control. i don't find it useful though. tongue.gif

I wonder how u guys format your memory cards especially for those with 1 or 2GBs. Did you all use phone's format(FAT16 and quite big cluster size) or custom format.

I used phone's format and found out lots of space wasted because most files are small. Original size is 200MB but taken around 700MB because of large cluster size.

I custom format the MiniSD to FAT32 and 4k cluster size and now it takes only 300MB instead of 700MB for 200MB files. Any tips on this?
*
For best result of performance and minimal waste spaces you should format it with FAT32 16K cluster size.

For 1Gb card, just format it using the phone and it will be 16K cluster size but this is not the case for 2GB card since FAT actually need 32K for 2GB card and we use FAT32 instead (this involve a bit calculation).

You shouldn't format it with 4K and this will dramatically slow down your file transferring to the memory card. 32K cluster size will make your large file transferring faster but will slow down your menu and os accessing because lowering cluster size makes file reading faster but not for write.

so in order for not sacrifice your writing speed of the mem card while to maintain good system performance of your phone one should choose 16K cluster size.

This could explain why people keep complaining their n73 ME with 2GB card slowed down their phone comparing to those who's using 1GB.

Added on May 2, 2007, 5:14 pmhere is the answer for your question tongue.gif

whenever you format your card to 32K cluster size, even 1K file will use up the 32K size, so you wasted 31K space. so if you have 1000 1K files, you waste 31000K (31MB).

so when you lower the cluster size, say 4K and your wasted is just 3K and so if you have 1000 files your wasted space is 3000K (3MB) only.

so after you've installed alot of programs into the mem card you should have alot of small tiny files perhaps 10000 ? so here the free space wasted.

Bro,wan to ask w900i n n73me,which 1 is good beside the camera n symbian hp?Plan 2 get i for my self
*
i was changing from w900 to n73 no regret here are their "rojak" comparison

1. camera is much better
2. symbiam os where i can install alot of program without getting bored of it after using for certain period.
3. 3D stereo sound (2 speakers) it's clear while for playing music w900 is much better i admit.
4. sync your outlook with n73 easily while w900 cannot do that
5. better LCD screen than w900 (brighter and sharper)
6. w900 has better front camera for video call
7. symbian can store number of sms until your memory full while w900 can only store around 200-300 (not really so sure the exact but it's around these figure).
8. w900 has a pretty large internal memory which i find it no use because it's very slow for mp3 transfer and i rather use my memory tongue.gif
9. SE t9 predictive text input not as powerful as nokia one.
10. In n73 you can install very powerful dictionary while w900 cannot and only bound to simple java dict
11. Mini SD card cheaper than memory stick tongue.gif
12. better internet browser..

no more saliva .... actually alot more to go...

Hope it helps.
Yes, highly doubt it is water related. The people like to push blame as water or self inflicted damages as it will not be under warranty.

This is common for joystick phones. It does wear out after awhile. Just insist it was manufacturing defect and they should fix it.

before i purchase my n73 me, the shop's display set is like that too..
