Actually it is the current Japanese administration that is still living in the past, not China and South Korea. Believe it or not Japan has not sign a peace treaty with Russia until today due to Kuril Islands, still having territorial disputes with South Korea for Dokdo Islands and China for Diaoyu Islands. The younger generation of all sides have long moved forward but Abe administration proven otherwise. The timing of Yasukuni Shrine visit, denial of Nanjing Massacre, controversial history textbooks and many others makes others question about the sincerity of the current Japanese government where its actions does not hold up to its words. The good news is it does not affect much on the young people as in my opinion there are way far more important things to focus than to linger the past as China is busy on its economic transformation by 2025 while Japan ponder its future for its declining population and struggling economy.

To claim 1944 as ancient history is total bullshit. Both of my grandmas are still alive and they live in japanese occupation when they invade Malaya.

Retard statement, we are merely talking about their attitude towards history. Germans are able to do it positively, their citizens are taught the full history without concealing unlike what the japanese govt did.

The more crucial aspect of the controversy is about the Japanese govt attitude towards past action, if they have no true remorse it means they don't deem the past action as being wrong, and hence may repeat their vile ambition in the future if given the chance.
