It's the same as any job. Where got job so perfect u get promoted like clockwork?

Military, like any job, promotion is given by a board of pipul, not by a computer that automatically levels u up by qualification. When u don't get promoted, u must have done something to piss off the wrong pipul.

my late father once kena hold promotion. someone sabotaged him. one magazine of bullets going missing under his watch. had to go to military court to clear his name.

The army by virtue of it being the defenders of he country should reflect the ethnic makeup of the country but clearly, that is not teh case, and there was never a willpower to encourage so.

KUALA LUMPUR, 28 Feb ― Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM) mahu lebih ramai kaum bukan Melayu menyertai organisasi pertahanan itu agar dapat mengukuhkan lagi perpaduan dalam kalangan anggota dan masyarakat.

Beliau mengulas dakwaan Persatuan Veteran Cina Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (MACVA) dalam satu portal berita tempatan Sabtu lepas bahawa kerajaan “terlalu memilih” dalam merekrut kaum Cina yang mahu menyertai bidang ketenteraan dan kepolisan.

Presidennya, Mejar (B) Tan Pau Son dilaporkan berkata lebih 100 anggota kaum Cina mahu menyertai pasukan itu sejak dua tahun lepas tetapi ditolak atas alasan “mereka tidak cukup baik”. ― Bernama

In the 50s right up to the 70s, the army was like 40-50% non-malays......then you know what happened, that's why no one joined since then. There are so many retired non-malay majors, colonels, captains. You can be qualified but you juniors will overtake you......many left because they couldn't go up further because you know.

Taman Melawati has a lot of these people.

This panglima in this news article sounds like a bangang....is he so ignorant that he doesn't know why non-malays are lukewarm towards pubilc service? Or he is just being a prick by feigning ignorance?

With the ketuanan narrative since the 70s, how would it look if you have multiple platoons, companies, batallions, regiments, head by non-malays.......how would it go down with the politics?
