Hi,

Creating this thread since I cannot find a proper Hikvision discussion. Currently setting up my Hikvision NVR with the PoE camera also from Hikvision. Planning to have a H264+ cam to save some bandwitdh and HDD space.

I have tried using Hikvision and also other ONVIF camera with the Synology, but it was a terrible experience. The surveilance station from Synology seems to be laggy even in the local intranet to access the live stream and the playback video. The Hikconnect, Ezviz and IVMS 4500 are some of the phone apps that we can view live stream and the playback videos. I have tried some other cloud based camera, and it seems to be that the Hikvision is the best to my experience. With a lot of review from the internet/youtube, the camera seems to be easy to find any solution/tricks for us to explore. The motion detection option seems to be a lot of features to play with such as the line crossing detection.

One of the nice thing for the Hikvision NVR is that, it can support 3rd party camera which support the ONVIF protocol so that we can easily enroll to its system. Later we can easily change the settings, activates the live view or setting up the recording.

Some prefer to use the analog which is using the BNC type connection, but I prefer to use the IP/NVR solution since it is scale able and easy integration to the other ONVIF certified camera. The IP cam from HIKVISION is not cheap, what more with the two way audio system and wireless function.

Right now, having the NVR with my wireless Hikvision Cube camera the continuous/motion recording seems to be smooth even on private IP setup such as DiGi. There's no way I can port forward the NVR other than to rely 100% on the Hikvision cloud.

another features of the Hikvision, is that I can use the external trigger port from the camera of NVR for the normally close/open connection for the alarm trigger. So that I can connect to the other external device in this case my Honeywell Z-Wave Home automation system. Currently I cannot find any hikvision product which can directly support the Z-wave for easier integration with the home alarm/home automation system.

The Z-wave controller. Honeywell Lynx 5100

too bad z-wave is so not popular in Malaysia. sad.gif

Frontyard using the Hikvision Cube with Full HD settings. Motion detection in action. Line crossing detection also activated. This is from iVMS 4200 client software. The rest of the cameras are from TP-Link onvif support but not realiable. frequent disconnection occured. sweat.gif

The Hikvision Cube has a good Wide Dynamic Range and iR. the only camera that still can see at night time in full color without the IR kicks in. the quality is a bit better than the MI Xiaofang / Da Fang camera (got good review on this). All my tplink camera need to activate the iR.

Can view intranet or internet. Remote configurations are also available for the individual IP camera or the NVR. All cameras are using WiFi connection with wireless N through my gigabit wireless router.

No port forward used, rely on its cloud service. the response time / rate is far better than the Synology. You can view this CCTV window in the android/ios apps as well. rclxms.gif

I got this from Aliexpress and it is an english version, box, manual, user interface are all in English. The Hikvision Cube is meant to be install indoor, but for this testing, I tried outdoor near the ceiling and it works just fine. for now I'm not using the PoE since the wiring is not yet complete, with WiFi from the NVR to the Cube, it works flawlessly. Smooth stream for live stream and playback.

If your existing cctv use analog, normally got BNC connector for signal and connector for power supply. Then you need the Hikvision DVR. the BNC connector as far as I know and experienced is the standard connector for all analog camera. power supply connector varies, but normally it can be cut and modify with adaptors if needed.

It’s plug and play.
Just make sure you got a DVR rather than a NVR

DVR = digital video recorder ( using RG59 for video and power cable )
NVR = network video recorder ( using lan cable for video + power )

That’s true.

Recently I just upgraded office setup without the need of rewiring the whole office.

DVR - DS-7216HUHI-K2 ( rm1450 )

Camera - ( rm2xx each )
*DS2CE56H1T-ITM*
- 5MP EXIR TVI Dome
- 3.6mm

*DS2CE16H1T-IT*
- 5MP EXIR TVI Bullet
- 3.6mm

The setup all using 5mp camera and I must say I’m impressed by the outcome of it.

After checking my existing cameras using bnc connection & power cable.
Now i know everything is plug & play. Because the existing also have 12V power supply.
So the next process is how do I proceed with the dvr setup? I mean the software part.

one of the easiest method you can youtube around. there are some videos and review on how to setup the DVR/NVR. the GUI is quite easy even for newbie. The latest technology there is a PoC. power over coaxial, the power supply is in the coaxial cable itself just like the PoE.

that DVR is quite decent one. do you enable the H265+ or anything higher then standard H264? just wondering how efficient the bandwidth/space saving for the live stream and recording. Once a while during day time (high bit rate) there's a bit lag on the live stream viewed from the apps. Since I'm using totally wireless solution, hopefully for the better standard like H264+ or H265+ might help a bit to reduce the bandwidth for smoother streaming.

Phone>DiGi at home for internet>NVR>WiFi to Hikvision Cam.

if got the time I plan to PoE them all.

H265 is enabled fresh out of box.

Bandwidth is said to halt by half, where space saving I must say at least by 40%?

Playback streaming is buttery smooth.

But there are several conditions for my setup.

I’m using the GSM APPLIFIER > huawei gsm router and it’s connected to 4G network rather than 3G.
