I know, I know, AGP is dead.

But for those who doesn't think so, take a look at these links:

Why are they still focusing on the 7 series?
8600Ultra IIRC supports AGP connections- although likely it's up to the cardmakers themselves to get the implementation done. X26/X23 supports Rialto as usual too.

Edit: I get it now. laugh.gif

Hmm, it seems nVidia's bridge chips are screwed. So no-one can do it- for now.
ATi's should work okay. I predict 2 months after launch- with the usual suspect AGP vendors (Powercolor etc.) and overcharging.

-----
But damnit, after they cut off Geforce FX support for Vista, I'm desperate to get a nice card to run Dreamscene.

Was searching around and found this (see hyperlinks below on 7950 GT vs 1950 pro).

Basically these are the specs for both cards:

------------------------------1950 PRO------------------7950 GT

Core clock: ----------------575 Mhz--------------------550 Mhz
Memory clock: ------------1.38 Ghz--------------------1.4 Ghz
Memory interface: --------256-bit----------------------256-bit
Memory transfer rate:----44.16 Gb/s------------------44.8 Gb/s
Pixels per clock:-----------36---------------------------24

Looks like both of them are almost similar (naturally, so that Nvidia can compete with ATI!), but the pixels per clock is more for 1950pro.

Wished there were reviews on how these cards compare to each other.

If i still stuck wif old AGP system i'll definately giv a major upgrade instead of buying a high-end AGP graphic card sweat.gif
buy a new PCI-E based system n a 8600series will do better, support dx10 also smile.gif

Errrr.... major upgrade yes, but I think better not get a 8600 series. Look at the review below (comparison between 8800 GTS, 8600 GTS and 1950pro)

http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,2127477,00.asp

As for me, I hope to skip DDR2 and straight to DDR3 + quad core!!! Possible??? whistling.gif whistling.gif

I support you on this one, mate! Although I had to upgrade my AGP to GF7600GT from a GF4, as the latter was really dated.

At this time, I'm not too compelled to upgrade to Vista/DX10 yet, as the platform still needs to mature. Most games still run into problems with Vista, and needs compatibility mode to run.

As far as performance is concerned, I think my systems can still hold their own when it comes to gaming -- I mean, can the avergae person tell the difference between 60 FPS and 90 FPS? I doubt it ...

Might as well save up and get a 45 nanometer quad core (or more) Penryn proc when it comes out later this year/early next year. It's only a few months away ...
