I notice not many people discuss or recommend tenda brand? Why is that? The price is very cheap

Well I won't say I recommend but it is a reputable brand I think, but TP-Link is more reputable.Used its wifi adapter before. Since other brands like TP-Link is more reachable(read: easier to find in stores), and the price is reasonable people tend to look that way. Take the Tenda Archer series if you're interested, quite cheap.

tenda is still better than dlink. So if you have a dlink router you can get tenda to replace it.

as a router brand tenda is not bad, but if you see too many options in their routers like with asus than you should avoid because at a cheap price, the division of cost has to be done right with the price or the quality would be bad (like dlink as dlink put too much effort into features of their firmware rather than hardware/firmware quality).

tplink isnt innocent either. they do have issues, just as a basic router tenda and tplink are totally find.

Under all circumstances however, make sure to avoid dlink even if its a modem.

Avoid D-Link DIR850L as TP-Link Archer C1200 as further away as possible. Other models are quite decent.

Be careful with the hardware. Sometimes the wireless standard might be good on paper but the WAN or LAN might be restricted to 100mbps only.

Used Tenda modem router before. It sux. Change any small setting also need to be restart. And the restart process took longer time than other brands to get connected to Streamyx.

For light usage should not be a problem but that's not what happens in my house. I have TV streaming youtube, and each person has a laptop and smart phone. If that ever happens in your house, you will know how terrible it is.

Yes, C1200 only as router, Wifi disabled. Wifi duties handled by D-Link DIR-868L and 2 units of DIR-850L. No problem with 12 devices & simultaneous Youtube/Iflix streams from kids.

It is suitable to use it to replace unifi 100mbps?
Currently using the dlink provided by tmnet. The wifi coverage is very limited

Yes. If you want something with better wifi coverage, you will need to pay more for a good router though. If you have a bigger than average house, get the TP-Link AC2300 or the C3150 v2.

currently using tenda mw6. all devices connected through wifi (8 devices normal but may increase to 15 in typical day use) no problem. Even during peak use (family gathering) also not a problem. The only one connected through LAN is hypptv.

Previously, using tplink ac1200 and dlink d850.

From my experience if your budget is less then RM500, you will get no better experience then using these two routers which is free from unifi.

However, from report (not my own experience) Tenda AC18 do actually give better experience at rm300 price point. Just do not expect it to be on-par to devices at more then rm500 such as tplink ac3150/ 2300 asus a86 etc.

I am using Tenda AC18 as a temporary replacement for my Asus AC86U. It’s coverage is slightly lower than Asus and its 5g can’t cover my whole house. I am still on stock firmware. But hey at the price of less than RM260, I don’t think I can complain much.
