I am a bit late, just want to give my experience with my ASUS 8500GT.
The default heatsink is a water-boiler, idle temp 70-75C and peak at 85C.

After I added this twin fan (will show picture later) stuff underneath and throttle fan at max speed, idle temp 55-60, peak 65-69C.

What about other 8500GT releases with fanless heatsink design? Contribution please.

My Galaxy 8500GE idle temp around 60-62 celsius and when full load around 75-77 on stock fan... damn hot.... so i change the fan to Zalman VF700 , idle temp around 55-58 celsius and full load around not more than 64 celsius....
