Wrong as well, one should not ever try to turn off System Restore whilst doing a scan, it acts as a safety wall tho it might be infected.
Anyhow, you can just purge it and create a new restore point when you're clean.

it is really better if we scan the whole system in safe mode after disable the system restore
becoz it is afraid that the virus hide inside the system restore
once the system restore been disable and after we scan it, then only your pc is "clean" from virus
and it can avoid the virus been restore back to your pc
thats what Norton Anti Virus website teach us
