Lets just say that my expected salary on Jobstreet is RM6k, and then this company is offering RM8k, since the recruitment agency says that the company only offers Rm6k to me, does that mean this recruitment agency gets to pocket RM2k per month from this company? Is that how it works?

I believe this is the case. I was offered RM 5k++ for my job for a Korean company that just set up here. The recruitment agent agreed to my salary on the spot without even negotiating to reduce. From all my interviews this was the first experience. I was speaking to my Korean accounting manager when i was there and he said that since I and a few others were the first few employees in the company they did not mind paying the extra.
