Japan-based company. Very stingy to increase salary & bonus. Still searching for new job that can relate my chemical engineering education background. Until now no desktop provided to do my work.
*
My experience in Japanese company is good OT rates (reimburse AL after carry forward 2 years) and medical benefits ONLY. Their entry level salary is fixed for ALL and very rigid. Punctuality is more important than our life, typical Japanese work ethics.....bla bla bla

But for your case, 1st year no annual leave is just wrong shakehead.gif
Just wondering, this company start with letter S? Able narrow down from your description

As a fellow chem eng holder, all the best in your job hunt

Ya 'S'. You used to work there?? . Its permanent job & probation duration is 6 months. I thought after 6 month I will receive Al. But have to wait 1 year. After cukup2 1 year I get 8 days Only. 3rd only I get 12 days & cannot accumulate.

The most annoying is 3 months resign notice.
*
Nope I don't work there. Not difficult to pinpoint players in water and WW industry. I started out in a Japanese company so I feel ya. But seriously your AL benefits sucks. My probation was 6 months but I got back 6 months worth after probation and every month I earn another AL which sums up 14 days a year and 1 month to serve resignation notice after confirmation.

Weren't the AL terms laid out in your contract before you accepted the offer?

Stop guessing lol. This field is small and I rather stay anonymous.

Your friends must have earned fellowships. Not many people can achieve that in Malaysia, they should be within the top 5%.
*
LOL everyone very interested to know where you work ma XD

I'll vaguely guess la but I won't mention any names of institutions. I have a feeling you teach students enrolling under affiliation with overseas institution aka external programmes? I maybe wrong so don't shoot me ya tongue.gif

Many friends studied AS in the UK. They have completed their papers and working as actuary in insurance companies or big 4 overseas. Don't think they plan to come back to Malaysia anytime soon.
Some return to Malaysia now working as investment bankers.

Wow 20% increment. Were you on the top of the performance rating? Were you promoted?
*
Just annual review. No performance ranking just compare current and previous year contribution and improvements. Position still junior level smile.gif

Graduated June 2019.. Been to SG and now planning to hunt jobs at KL. Planning to look for job position (Project or M&E Engineer).
What kind of salary should i expect if i wish to work in KL? My fren advice me to work at mnc if possible.. better pays.
Please advice things i should know before going there.. like rental, salary, best location for engineer job..    confused.gif
TQVM  notworthy.gif

Were you on contract basis? Is your visa still valid? If so I suggest you'd try to find a job there first. IMO, your previous salary is kinda on the low end but hope you'll get better offer.
Instead of blindly following your friend to apply at mnc only, do take some time to research the pros and cons of the companies you are looking at and from which perspective you want to progress in your engineering career. You can apply to companies in SG that has branch offices in KL so there may be a chance for internal transfers if your mind is still adamant to work in KL.
As for your salary expectations, you can attempt to use your previous salary as leverage instead since the lowest engineer's fresh grad base salary in KV is about RM2500 (from what I know so far) though you'll be questioned on your career history.

Could you explain you meant on the best location for an engineer job?

Well i planned to work in singapore for few years first and then back to malaysia.
But i was fired right before new year.. and now the coronavirus.
Imagine the risks when taking public bus, MRT and going through customs.. the lists goes on.
So.. any advice on exploring job opportunities in KL? hmm.gif
*
The world doesn't stop just because of the virus. This situation is not permanent (take SARS for example) so its no a proper justification for your decision.
My advise in exploring job opportunities is apply to attend as many interviews possible to learn about the industry and gauge the market. Its the same process as how you got a job in SG in the first place.

Why in an organisation, same level position but different salary ya?
In my company  all of us has differ salary range despite same level position? Even managers and between managers also different salary range. I'm quite shock with that. Same experience, different salary range. Why this happen among hiring company?

Possibilities:

1. First job vs jump
2. Negotiation skills
3. Inflation
4. Competency
5. Many other factors
