If you are earning around RM4000, would you consider going to SG with SGD2400? hmm.gif

Commitment still the same, no difference.

Job in Malaysia - Marketing
Job in Singapore - Sales

Hi

I did consider the above scenario a couple of years back. Decided against it.

The questions you'd have to ask yourself are:
1. SGD2.4k is entry level, if not marginally lower. Are you willing to go back to the bottom of the food chain? Consider your age & experience.
2. With that amount of SGD, can you maintain the same lifestyle you have in MY? If no, are those sacrifices you are willing to make?

In the end it is a very personal preference, and mine was to stay put in MY.

Cheers,
J

Food for thought, will employer's EPF contribution be a deciding factor for you too? when accepting a job, a new job, etc.

For example, if you work in a bank, you're likely gonna get 16% epf contribution by your bank as opposed to working in a small company where they just pay the statutory 12% epf contribution to your account.

Is this benefits important to you?

Interesting, but very subjective to individuals situations when job hunting.

In a situation where I am browsing for the next jump, my expected salary would take into account the difference in the monthly contribution if the new company is not matching the rate that I am currently receiving.

Whereas if it was a situation where I needed a job badly, it would not matter all that much anymore.

Cheers!

what you mean getting 3 months bonus as a start?
You just started and they pay u 3 months bonus? what is this?
*
That's a signing bonus, usually given for agreeing to join a firm.

It's also an indicator of how bad the company wants/values you

How long will they bond you?

Depends on the company, no hard and fast rule on this.

Hi guys, im 34 this year and my title is senior role.

But i felt it's very hard for me to move to next level. (looking for director or AVP on next jump)

Did u guys face the same dilemma?

Yes me on the same boat. The next level for me is towards management role which is not really my thing. So I am not sure how to move to the next level too.
*
I'm on the same boat as well. But by now, the climb is secondary, the added stress and responsibility is not looking equivalent to the reward. So I may just stop the climb, focus on self development and branch out laterally to expand my skillset.

So in that sense I have somewhat found my sweet spot and will see what comes next with no urgency to move.
