Just wondering whats the career prospect for a PA to CEO?

Forever become PA?

hurm... some called it PA, some called it Special Officer.
looking at the jobscope which requires one to be a gatekeeper to CEO's office (screen through every details of the approval paper and decide whether it is ready for CEO's approval or not, ensure that every report is complete and correct on the data, pretty much as a vice ceo or COO if the company doesnt have one), if there is cases that multiple event at the same time, need to represent the CEO to the event; and make sure whatever instructions from CEO is delivered to the right division or department and follow through.

based on things that a PA or SO do, pretty much he will be ready for a management position later down the road. its all depends on your work quality.

if we are looking at past history, some ministers or CEO or young board of directors, comes from this path. but not all succeed.

its either make or break. LOL

You get good networking by being with the CEO all the time. Also can know how management people think, work, behave etc so you could learn from them. But to straight away from PA into let say manager of any company is quite hard. Maybe can start own company with all the networking and knowledge gained to your advantage. Or you can just stay being his/her PA with that kind of salary is quite good what.  biggrin.gif

for bigger company, say "the electricity supply company in malaysia", Special Officer is SM or GM level. because you need to give instruction to the SM or GM level. in my case, im just an AM level.

Hmm thats a red flag...to promote someone to hod need someone with business and front office experience... Not PA experience..

Maybe the PA comes from those background as well, just that the boss trust him more to be his assistant. smile.gif
