I started watching football during 1986 World Cup when Maradona (Argentina) won the World Cup. It was my dad who introduce football to me. After the World Cup, i'll watch football whenever its on TV or go to Stadium Merdeka with my dad to watch Merdeka Cup or Malaysia Cup (not that many times). During that time in Malaysia, they only show highlights of EPL and Italian Seria A once or twice a week. Still remember Liverpool was the team to beat. The rivalry between Liverpool and Everton was immense. My dad used to tell me that its a derby between two local clubs (dun understand what he mean then. All i'm interested is football). I have never supported any team then.
When i grow older, everyone is talking bout football, Utd and Liverpool to be precised. Most of my friends supported Liverpool and whoever support Utd are seen as glory hunter. When i think back... Glory hunter??? Utd haven't won the EPL since the 60's and they are suppose to be on their way up. Liverpool won their last championship in 1990. So who is the glory hunter? The first year i supported Utd, Leeds won the EPL in 1992. It was Liverpool who beat Utd 2-0 to give Leeds the championship. Utd won their first championship since 60's in 1993 with Eric Cantona on board. Like they say the rest are history.
What actually makes you support a team..., ...in the first place?
