Sent my iPhone X at Machines Northpoint (hardware problem), bought it from Lazada, they can't repair my iPhone and replaced it with replacement unit. They clarify it's replacement unit which is new unit instead of refurbished unit

You are one lucky guy if your unit is not a refurbished unit
It is always Apple policy to replace with refurbished units and never a new one

I see. Then what's the different between Replacement Unit and Refurbished Unit?
They are two different things right?
*
Refurbished are units that possibly had parts replaced and went through a thorough process to verify it is 100% good. All units accepted in by Apple for warranty claims will go through such a process and later circulate back into market
Replacement units are brand new unused units
I couldn't remember but refurbished units will have a different model code in front - anyone knows what it is?

So it's better to have a replacement unit instead right? Since refurbished has been "used" despite going thru processes to ensure it's 100% functional.

Definitely but than it is rare Apple will give you a replacement unit . It is not their policy to do so. Unless they had out of stock of refurbished??

Esim will discourage frequent traveler. It is a negative feature for me
Apple with this move is tying up the US telcos commitment to their phones.

Just did a speed test on my iPhone X, iOS 12 public beta 5 compared to s9+, both on same network maxis and same location
The result is seriously disappointing. Apple should really drop the intel LTE modem.
*
My iphone 8+ and previous ip7 is always consistently slower in download speeds vs the Androids such as S8+, Note 8, OP5T, Huawei Mate9 etc
We just got to accept this "weakness" unless there is a hardware change in future phones

The new iPhone will be expensive
I am more interested in the 6.1 inch model and looking forward to its pricing. If it ever touch the rm5k and above mark it will be a no go for me

Oh from 6s+. I’d probably go 8+ then ha ha.

Screen is very important to me.

I would like to view first the XR display before deciding to dispose off the ip8+
Theoretically the XR is poorer but than for me I don't think is a critical issue?
