It's case by case. Depends on your company policy, your letter of offer, contract laws, seldom protected by labor laws. If there is nothing in writing saying you will get a guaranteed bonus, then most likely you will not.

Depends on your boss actually

When you tendered its always the best time to see someone's true color.

Then you can decide if you wanna burn the bridge or not

three months notice period is quite common for managers-and-above level positions

during job interview, employer will usually enquire how soon the job-seeker can start work if an offer is made to him/her

some companies, depending on circumstances, maybe willing to pay compensation to existing employer for early release

Ah yes. My current company notice period also requires 3 months notice which I think quite hard to look for a new job. That's why I'm asking if there's any company willing to wait for 3 months instead of either party paying the compensation to existing employer for earlier release.

Not many. My colleague who was offered elsewhere but the company can't wait for three months. Which makes me think if I should just tender and thereafter look for a job or to venture my own business, I already have something in mind but it needs aomething to take off before I can commit fully to the said idea.

My boss knows I may tender any time but still we're on good terms. Perhaps it may be different when I truly have tendered.

Many of which are not willing to pay unless you're exceptionally good and they really want you in their payroll.

usually, any committed bonus not yet paid will *poof* into thin air if you tender.

but seriously, if you have performed for the PAST 12mths or so, shouldn't it be given still regardless of future affiliation?

Will u still gip the bonus?

If I'm the boss, I will if that employee is valuable and I would like him or her to work for me again

If jz a plain average worker, mehh.. easy replacement hence no value..

Become like my wife, got transfered to Payroll, later found out they got play hanky panky. She didnt want to cooperate, and later send resign letter later cos cannot work like that.

When she send letter, the HR boss say no need to wait 2 months. And the bonus also they will pay. She can leave immediately . No need to wait.
Lucky the salary and bonus went in.

Cb HR boss must be the mastermind of all of this. Later he was terminated.

Wouldn't say that I'm valuable to an extent but I've been contributing to the company to improve many things, and many of it were accepted and implemented.

Not to mention I'm in the banking industry and in my department I'm the person who knows the system most.

I don't wish to go but I'd not like to follow scheduled working hours, feels very robotic. I like to always go places or at least to get out of the city la.

If you already have greener pastures then move on. Why let the bonus hold you back? Its pretty simple, once you are out then you are out. You should be glad if your bosses dont burn bridges with you.

I think it's better if u prepare some money aside to compensate for early release if u manage to find a new job. Better than tender first & look for a job after that.

Venturing into journalism. It's already an ongoing project with the kopitiam bikers. wink.gif as some already know lah i was previously freelancing for autofreaks...

Turnover in my dept is low. But having myself leave, that's two people within 6 months. Typically we don't have much turnover here anyway. I don't develop the system but I know the system very well and if I leave, the newcomers will not have anyone to teach them, the rest may teach but they're not so well versed with the system as I am.

I'm just tired with what I've been doing; nothing to do with the management. The repetitive thing I do everyday bores me. So I'm thinking of a change of environment entirely.

Depends on type of bonus and wording in your offer letter.
Rule of thumb: Any type of discretionary / performance bonuses suck thumb, company doesn't need to pay.
Contractual / AWS type bonuses still got chance to get it pro rated depending on contract wording.
