My 1 13 yrs still ok. Change the cushion to leather more durable. Use the old cushion internal foam to add in the butt side.

The leather buy from ikea also? Can choose in between leather and cushion seat when we buy?

please sand lightly first to remove the dirt before oiling. sweat.gif u dont want to seal the dirt into the grain.
*
Yes, sand it and wipe it with wet tissue to remove most of the grime.

Then have a rag drop a few drops of baby oil and wipe to a shine.

Maybe just attach velcro to the cushion so that it will not slip?

Yes you can choose

For my case, my dog loves to sit on poang also and the fur sticks to the fabric. So my latest replacement is leather. Just wipe or vacuum off the fur.

Yes.

I find it easier to maintain leather sofa than fabric. Just wipe or vacuum. Fabric need to remove, wash, dry, put back. So much hassle.

Some more my dog stay indoors. Leather sofa and chairs easier to take care.

It's Culture here that ppl dint DIY. Unlike westerners, they will DIY. Partly because repair man there charges expensive. Unlike here, consider cheap.

That's why big hardware shops like ACE you seldom see many ppl.

stapled? good luck
*
Sorry if I misled some people here rolleyes.gif

you guys must think my staples is these puny kind
user posted image

but really, to do this, you have to have at least one of this
user posted image

not exactly the same level here
user posted image

get one with at least 8mm length
the original is 8~10mm but theirs is coarser type
so thats why I double up on the tacks, where as the original IKEA uses a single row to hold onto the wood

QUOTE(~Sherlock~ @ Feb 4 2018, 01:06 PM)
This kind of money not worth saving. The frame only cost around RM200. U DIY this, sekali break u really cry.
*
well, the investment here is the staples.
the straps is from the store rubbish area
the stapler was a broken one thrown away that repair back to usable state

the money saving I would guess ~RM 100 at least

plus as kurangak said
there is the joy of able to repair something with ones own hand
that buying replacement cant really fill

QUOTE(joe_star @ Feb 4 2018, 01:18 PM)
This 1 also buy from ikea?

Last time buy from chinese kedai perabot, sqme only 1
*
saw one in the furniture shop as well
but that one have not the flexibility of POANG

QUOTE(santik @ Feb 4 2018, 01:23 PM)
Interesting, got inspired to fix mine someday.

I would also advise you to oil the wood. Baby oil works too if you don't have wood oil.
*
hmm.. never oil wood before, just gone in dry whistling.gif heheheh

sitting or back area
you say, start to break apart
if the connector still good, just the middle part start to crack, the find a length of wood, or metal, simialr sized
and use cable ties to support the braking wood,

if broken, then either DIY anotherpiece or buy new

I oil my POÄNG chair maybe once a year.

To keep the wood smooth to touch and not becoming dry/brittle.
