@ logic - if your bro said the console can play p1rat3d, that means your console has been modded. If so, I'd suggest you don't even think of signing up for XBL now until you figure out which path you want to take (unmod it or keep it modded). Registering online as it is now will get your console banned forever. That means no XBL for you with that console ... ever (assuming it's not too late and you've not already been banned). If you wish to stay original all the way, then i'd suggest you go get the console unmodded first and then try registering for XBL then.

Check the error code as explained by mayatsan several times. if it's not the ban code, then you're still safe and have not been banned. As i said, it could just be that your connection timed-out and you couldn't connect to the xbl server, in which case, you're one lucky star.

if the xbl server detects your console as modded, your console gets banned forever and there's nothing you can do to un-ban it. life sucks i know. learn from it.
