don't rely on company'one too much... if you are healthy now, buy for yourself and family if you can afford it.

if you change company in the future, the new company might not have insurance for you. and if you have pre-existing condition in the future, then it's going to be hard to buy insurance at that time.

Nope you don't need, but if you have extra money monthly just take a standalone medical card it's cheaper to cover the risk of your losing your job. And also took life insurance for urself if you the only source of income for your family in case of death or permenant disability.

Keyword here is if you have extra money

First thing to ask urself.

1. Does ur company GUARANTEE your employment and grant your family free insurance even if you are retired / sick with Critical Illness / unable to work / permanently disabled / unemployed / retrenched ?

2. If the answer above is No for any 1 of the item, then yes, you should get urself a personal medical card insurance.

AIA has family plan for medical card @ affordable premium.

See your company trend whether they will expel a person if they have medical issue or will help to retain the employee for a period of 6-12months.

My friend got expelled from my ex company due to diabetes under the reason of "unfit to work", he can't control his diabetes very well and it makes him to take MC very frequent.

Depends on your current budget, good to sit down and start calculating all your current income and expenses and how much you're willing to allocated for your insurance then you'll know whether with savings or without savings is more suitable for you.

Not sure about your age so can't comment on the premium for you. As for the coverage, starts from 100k yearly with no lifetime limit. Which is good for a basic coverage but if you want to enhance it further, can add on another 1 mil on top of the 100k to make it 1.1 mil. Premium difference won't be alot, probably 90 - 100/mth (assuming based on the figure you gave)

doh.gif the medical plan with investment is not supposed to be treated like an investment / savings because the future cost of insurance is calculated into the policy already. Taking out this 30k will mean that you would terminate your medical insurance in the future.

Yeah just shop around , no need saving I see a lot of people paying so much for insurance at last they defaulted cannot pay monthly and the insurance lapse.

I'm planning the same, my current insurance only cover after myr 10k so I pay cheap premium (700++) per year.i already have full coverage from my company.

Just spent within your budget. And don't be intimidated by all the insurance agent story about losing your job etc.i lost job before no issue worst come to worst you still have public hospital that's is a lot better nowdays

No, I won't recommend buying Insurance just because it's cheap, but rather, it should serve the purpose to cover your financial needs, Insurance is not just about medical card, you need to make sure Death / Disability / Critical Illness and Personal Accident is covered as well.

Who is going to fund for all the cost of living and your kid's education if you just pass away tomorrow with just a medical card ? do you think it will help your family in anyways with just a medical card ?

As long as below age 70, still can apply nowadays.

Worse case are pre-existing illness which may render your application with loading / excluded / postponed or rejected.

standalone medical card is cheap but will increase as you age.

the expensive one is most likely investment link. depending on how much your coverage and whether you have including life/CI/tpd in the card, 150 could last at least 20 years, then possible need to top up later years of your age.

But i i take the expensive one, rm150, it will mot increase until i retired
*
Even if u take rm150 also wont guarantee not increase one.. but it is much more stable than the cheaper plan

Cheap one (68.9 Monthly as u said) most likely cover less than 100k medical claims per year WITH lifetime limit

More exp one which is ILP normally cover millions of medical claims annually WITHOUT lifetime limit a.k.a unlimited

If you have that, then no need, unless your medical card gave better coverage.

Can buy some for peace of mind if can afford.

Otherwise don’t bother.

At the end of the day, private is sending you to govt when it’s too severe.

They don’t want you to tarnish their good name.

Bro, seriously no such thing as unlimited.
Have limit.
Maybe HR didn't check properly or inform you wrong.

Bro, you buy what you can afford now.
When you no longer work with the GLC, this is when you will appreciate buying at an early age.

there is no such thing as unlimited if your Co is getting an insurance Co to cover you. at least a lifetime maximum.
the only Co who covers their employees using their own coffers and not involving an insurance Co is Apple.

Previously our company using PM Care services..

But now, all the medical expences is cover under ourself. Our company set up one unit (that will become subsidiary later) to manage medical for our staff, and to all the retired staff (that serve the government before) ~ their medical coverage is untuk they die(to any private hospital).

And yes our company medical expences is very highh..~ 560mil last year.

Hye, since now my current company cover unlimited medical coverage for me, wife and up to 5 children..

Do u think medical card is good to have?

Please advice. Im noob at this.

I am an Insurance Agent myself, and here is an advice.

It is good to have a personal medical card for yourself and your family.
This is important as you do not know how long you are staying with your current company.

I have an example: I have approached my bro-in-law's sister on taking up her own medical card. She and her boyfriend said maybe later because she was covered by her company which provided her unlimited medical. Since they are not interested at that moment, I did not continue.

Few months later, I heard from my bro-in-law that her sister is leaving the company. I approached again, and this time her boyfriend told me that she will buy, but will get back to me soon. But her last day was like in 5 more days. And I told them that medical card has a waiting period of 120 days, so please get one ASAP.

What if something happens during the 120 days when you have applied medical card? You will have to pay the medical bills with your own money!

Therefore, I urge you to get a medical card ASAP when you can afford it.

There is a saying from my senior: You do not need to believe in Insurance, but you MUST get a medical card!

Take the most basic one 200 room per day as backup. If next company no cover that much, upgrade your own coverage.

Why is this even a question? Your car got the option of no insurance?
