don't rely on company'one too much... if you are healthy now, buy for yourself and family if you can afford it.
if you change company in the future, the new company might not have insurance for you. and if you have pre-existing condition in the future, then it's going to be hard to buy insurance at that time. |

Nope you don't need, but if you have extra money monthly just take a standalone medical card it's cheaper to cover the risk of your losing your job. And also took life insurance for urself if you the only source of income for your family in case of death or permenant disability.
Keyword here is if you have extra money |

First thing to ask urself.Do u think medical card is good to have? Please advice. Im noob at this. 1. Does ur company GUARANTEE your employment and grant your family free insurance even if you are retired / sick with Critical Illness / unable to work / permanently disabled / unemployed / retrenched ? 2. If the answer above is No for any 1 of the item, then yes, you should get urself a personal medical card insurance. AIA has family plan for medical card @ affordable premium. |

See your company trend whether they will expel a person if they have medical issue or will help to retain the employee for a period of 6-12months.
My friend got expelled from my ex company due to diabetes under the reason of "unfit to work", he can't control his diabetes very well and it makes him to take MC very frequent. |

Not sure about your age so can't comment on the premium for you. As for the coverage, starts from 100k yearly with no lifetime limit. Which is good for a basic coverage but if you want to enhance it further, can add on another 1 mil on top of the 100k to make it 1.1 mil. Premium difference won't be alot, probably 90 - 100/mth (assuming based on the figure you gave) |

QUOTE(mozact89 @ Feb 2 2018, 11:39 AM) No, I won't recommend buying Insurance just because it's cheap, but rather, it should serve the purpose to cover your financial needs, Insurance is not just about medical card, you need to make sure Death / Disability / Critical Illness and Personal Accident is covered as well.Who is going to fund for all the cost of living and your kid's education if you just pass away tomorrow with just a medical card ? do you think it will help your family in anyways with just a medical card ? |

Can buy some for peace of mind if can afford.
Otherwise don’t bother. At the end of the day, private is sending you to govt when it’s too severe. They don’t want you to tarnish their good name. Personal experience- twice! |

QUOTE(mozact89 @ Feb 2 2018, 11:24 AM) Bro, seriously no such thing as unlimited.Have limit. Maybe HR didn't check properly or inform you wrong. Bro, you buy what you can afford now. When you no longer work with the GLC, this is when you will appreciate buying at an early age. roystevenung This post has been edited by DarkNite: Feb 2 2018, 09:14 PM |

Previously our company using PM Care services..the only Co who covers their employees using their own coffers and not involving an insurance Co is Apple. But now, all the medical expences is cover under ourself. Our company set up one unit (that will become subsidiary later) to manage medical for our staff, and to all the retired staff (that serve the government before) ~ their medical coverage is untuk they die(to any private hospital). And yes our company medical expences is very highh..~ 560mil last year. |

QUOTE(mozact89 @ Feb 2 2018, 11:12 AM) Hye, since now my current company cover unlimited medical coverage for me, wife and up to 5 children.. I am an Insurance Agent myself, and here is an advice. Do u think medical card is good to have? Please advice. Im noob at this. It is good to have a personal medical card for yourself and your family. This is important as you do not know how long you are staying with your current company. I have an example: I have approached my bro-in-law's sister on taking up her own medical card. She and her boyfriend said maybe later because she was covered by her company which provided her unlimited medical. Since they are not interested at that moment, I did not continue. Few months later, I heard from my bro-in-law that her sister is leaving the company. I approached again, and this time her boyfriend told me that she will buy, but will get back to me soon. But her last day was like in 5 more days. And I told them that medical card has a waiting period of 120 days, so please get one ASAP. What if something happens during the 120 days when you have applied medical card? You will have to pay the medical bills with your own money! Therefore, I urge you to get a medical card ASAP when you can afford it. There is a saying from my senior: You do not need to believe in Insurance, but you MUST get a medical card! |
