I agree with bro zher4883. Your budget is too limited for anything good.

Since you are using Maxis Fibre, you will need to bridge the Maxis router for VoIP, to the new third party router that you will be getting, or only two D-Link routers that can support VoIP.

I'm not using voip

Ok bro. If you are not using VoIP, your choices just get bigger. You can go to the Mikrotik route, or double your budget and get the TP Link Archer C7 v4, which is the minimum I could recommend to you, if you do not want to bother with configuration. See here: https://www.lazada.com.my/tp-link-ac1750-wi...is-1774185.html

They mentioned V2, but will send the V4 to you.

Will recommend the TP-Link Archer C7 v4: https://www.lazada.com.my/tp-link-ac1750-wi...is-1774185.html or the ASUS RT-AC1300UHP.

Can buy from sublime @ lelong.

Btw, I am using hEX.
If budget around RM500,

Want a powerful and capable router, can consider mikrotik. But u may need to spend some time to learn and tweak its configuration.

For set and forget type, just get Asus ac86u from taobao.

Both is good enough.

I agree with you on Mikrotik. But, getting the ASUS AC86u from Taobao is risky, as ASUS Malaysia will not cover your warranty if there is any problems with your unit if you buy it from overseas. Just something to keep in mind,

some of us may learn mikrotik via google easily, but many people just arent able to learn and figure out networking. The thing about mikrotik is that its not just adding a bunch of rules, you have to know what you're doing. For instance do you know how to use pcq to get the best quality and bufferbloat? To use the NAT, firewall and mangle to get good security and do all sorts of weird routing?

theres also pairing up mikrotik with another device to do IDS/IPS.

Mikrotik is powerful and capable but only if you know what you're doing. Just copy pasting rules online without knowing isnt helpful. How many here remember to drop connections marked as invalid?
*
I agree with you bro. I am still learning about networking in general and configuring Mikrotik as a router as well. No point getting something if you can’t really use it to its full potential.

thats not good, i thought these big companies give international warranty, i guess it depends on product as laptops seem to get international coverage.
*
Yes bro. Depends really. They might have change their policy as I heard about this a few months ago, but never personally have to claim for a warranty from them for an overseas product.

I shall avoid mikrotik as I can't handle the tweak in configuration, simple setup still can handle. For Asus, ac86u n ac86u wat the different?
Thx for the suggestion, will looking into this model. Any other suggestion? Budget wise I can increase a bit of got better choice
*
I am assuming you are asking about the difference between ac68u and ac86u. AC86u is better than AC86U, and newer of course. I would recommend the TP-Link AC3150 v2 which is cheaper than the two ASUS models mentioned above:

sry, i mean ac86u and ac87u
saw some seller in the garage selling ac87u rm750 each  hmm.gif
for the past 1 month, my internet keep disconnected with RTN12hp. Have try reset the router few time also ask tm to reset the port few time, condition still the same. Finally last week dig out back old tm DL DIR 615 to try, so far no disconnect for past few days. For the speed part felt like 30mb and 50mb about the same on RTN12HP.

My house is double story and my rounter is set at the living hall. My com in 2nd floor only able to received 4 bar network with RTN12HP. Since now planning to get a new router so looking for better coverage.

I would recommend the TP Link AC350 v2 if you are intending to pay RM750 for the AC87U. The TP Link is newer and have nearly same features as the AC87U plus your house is only double storey. See here: https://www.lazada.com.my/tp-link-archer-c3...81e5NFJvLR&mp=1

Or you can get the ASUS Rt-AC1300UHP, which only goes for RM5xx. That should be sufficient for your needs.

Chill bro. He might not be aware of this seller. At least he now know there are options.
