QUOTE(sjn hassan @ Jan 5 2008, 12:56 AM) QUOTE(clawhammer @ Jan 5 2008, 01:00 AM) 18A on the 12V probably exists in dual or quad 12V rail PSU's. If you look at the overall total, it should be sufficient. ermm, two different opinions. Mine to describe more details. I tried doing some google but hard to find the answers. So,in terms of using a lots of latest high end OR mid range hardwares 18A is sufficient rite? As i can see,a lots of osu thats use above 18A on the 12V rails, the price range is quite high. Oh ya,i saw this Acbel E2 510.Rm 2++. The cons is,its not Active PFC. I am not sure whether its passive PFC or not. So does this psu recommended to run a OC system that needs roughly 500Watt power? |

Is getting a 550Watt PSU with NON-PFC is recommended for overclocking? Is it really important to get a PSU with Active PFC?

QUOTE(lohwenli @ Jan 19 2008, 09:04 AM) APFC is not important unless you're using a UPS or your area's AC power fluctuates (which in that case, you should be getting a UPS anyway). A side bonus is that APFC psu usually have better power efficiency as well (do not confuse with power factor). Otherwise, APFC is not important, just count it as a bonus feature. Thanx bro.So there will be no hesitate for me to take a 500 to 550 watt w/o Active PFC. |

QUOTE(a1098113 @ Jan 20 2008, 11:25 PM) @ocz Well, thank bro.i have used my St400 for ocing my proc to 3.44GHz and my ram to 1150Mhz. So i have no doubt that it can handle your system, Though i am concerned about your HG3870, this is where you have to consider the 12V rails. I would suggest FMA2 535W, if you can afford it or the ST56F, Fma2 might do the job well. Hmm but st400 i am not too sure man. This is solely up to the railings and what your HD3870 needs . I would suggest you to google, POwer supply calculator and go to xtremepsucalc. Get the power rating and come back here after that Let me check by calculating the power consumptions 1st. Whats the approximately power for the 12V rails. Thanx bro. |

QUOTE(clawhammer @ Jan 22 2008, 11:32 AM) ocz, you might want to address your PSU questions in ocforums, xtremesystems, etc. People there would give you a better idea of what it is about Hi bro.The place u mentioned is too high for me. Well some of my question are answered here.Thank you for the help. My thing is,i don't really intend to get those expensive PSU like zeus, gamextream,pc & c,etc where else an acbel or enermax liberty 500W will do to work my pc runs smoothly. Thats why i really want to know how far can a mid-range power supply go. |

QUOTE(a1098113 @ Jan 22 2008, 10:37 PM) Nice choice.I used it one. That time the price was RM475. But i didn't know much about it.I sell it to get the OCZ modstream.Well, after need money.Isold my OCZ and get the Acbel E2 470W. Now,thinking of to get a long last PSU that will never turn me down. QUOTE(clawhammer @ Jan 22 2008, 11:54 PM) Thats a good idea. There few cheap modular psu that can be considered. For example the Mushkin 550W series and the I-Cute 600W series.Price ranging from RM330 to RM 370.Well,thats a really hard choice. I got a few 2nd hand offer in hand here : A-Silverstone ST650ZF RM400 B-Enermax Liberty 500W RM300 C-Mushkin 550W RM280 |
