for the first time, my ST56ZF made me sweating sweat.gif, well it's not kaboom, or whatsoever, but earlier today, when i re-apply thermal paste for CPU, Chipset and GPU (3 months at a time job) as well as do some cleaning job, re-assemble and doh.gif, the system cannot boot... the standby LED was lit though, just like normal standby (orange) before it's going to green meaning it's successfully booted... but it appeared it won't be green no matter i press the power button 30 times. at first it might be due to lack of power, so i dissassemble some hardware, fans mostly... but still the same, double, triple checked the connection... seems no problem at all, i've done almost everything, until how-many-i-pressed-i-don't-know, luckily booted like normal, checked voltage reading/fluctuation via Lavalys Everest - normal like first day i got the PSU... so guys, any idea of what's going on?

i'm sorry to hear that remysix, guess it made us in common icon_idea.gif, anyway, my PSU's warranty is over... so, it's impossible for me for warranty claiming. but i really appreciate if anyone can help us out on what's really happen, why our PSU won't powering up after shuts off? it's not like dying PSU though, because i just ran 3DMark05, priming... the PSU stable as rock, nothing seems a problem... doh.gif unsure.gif

it might be the power cord to the wall socket came loose.. i had experienced this too.. (albeit not with SST PSU) .. had to press the power button many times before the system will boot up.. after changing the power cord, then all ok already wink.gif
*
tried on same power cord on other PSU, none, nothing's wrong with the power cord, so it's from PSU itself, i don't really know what's wrong with the PSU unsure.gif rclxub.gif

I am looking for a better and higher wattage PSU to replace my current Acbel PSU,
The model that I am quite interested are like below:

Silverstone OP650 (2nd hand @ RM550)
Silverstone DA750 (2nd hand @ RM680)
Silverstone ST75ZF (new @ RM580)
Corsair HX520W (new @ RM450)
Corsair HX650W (new @ RM550)
Enermax Infinity 650W (new but no pricing)
Enermax Infinity 750W (new but no pricing)
Gigabyte Odin GT 800W (new @ RM620)

*
off all PSU listed here, if i were you, i'd go for OP650... why?

1. single 60A +12V rail
2. powerful +3.3 and +5.00 rail too
3. silent
4. non-modular type
5. it's silverstone - i'm Silverstone ST56ZF user

why not having DA750? because it's modular type

why not having ST75ZF? because it's multi-rail design

why not Corsair? because i hate Corsair laugh.gif

why not Enermax? because used to love old Enermax product, but now... i think it's just unreliable

why not Gigabyte? it's a good PSU, but i simply don't like as well as it's motherboard laugh.gif doh.gif

@sniper69,
mind to tell me the disadvantages of modular PSU?
would it affect the performance of the PSU?

i can't really explain in details, but from what i understand, IMO la... modular seems harder to manage those cables (yala... because the cables coming out from from all over PSU unlike modular coming out from one spot you know what i mean?), another thing is... modular vs non-modular... we got voltage regulation loss due to that modular design... like i said earlier... i can't really explain in details smile.gif

secondly...
i just don't like modular design, it hurts my eyes badly

QUOTE(lohwenli @ Dec 20 2007, 09:19 AM)
wah, sniper69..you got a lot of biased opinions there..
But you are still entitled to speak yours  icon_rolleyes.gif

no offense smile.gif, but that's my personal preference icon_idea.gif, IMO getting a good PSU is like one time big investment, get a good and can last long than get a lousy, cheaper but can't last longer icon_idea.gif

for example...
Silverstone ST56ZF vs Silverstone ST56F

those were same wattage, same company but difference is the price and the spec, why would i choose ST56ZF instead of ST56F? because it's single rail design that's all... as i said earlier... when buyinga new PSU, should be single rail, non-modular design, heavier the better, effective wattage @50°C (that's one of good reason why i choose Silverstone...) and so on... smile.gif

comparing fsp 600w with sstone op650

which one is good?
*
OP650 sleep.gif, why? it's single 54A rail... that's why... single rail always better than multi-rail design...

hmm.gif, i thought when mentioning multi-rail, everybody knows it's dual-rail, tri-rail, quad-rail even more rail thingy... so, it's just single rail and multi-rail...

IMO... most, i mean... almost 100% of available PSU do have ripple, the only PSU not having ripple as other PSU (lowest ripple) is PC Power & Cooling brows.gif...

errr... that's what i read la from JonnyGuru.Com, eXtremeSystem.Org icon_idea.gif

then next stop is PC Power and Cooling lor. Sell off my strider, get that PSU to feed my little darling baby e2140 with delicious voltage with those ripples.. hmm brows.gif
*
doh.gif, aiyoh... your E2140 does not deserve that kind of PSU, unless you're using Quad Core kaaa, not to mention the price is... sweat.gif

@everyone
anyone knows what is the device that read how much wattage draws from our system/PC? i've seen a lot @PSU reviewer... does this device can be used on other electric stuff such as TVs, Radios? unsure.gif

for +12V Rail, it is highly recommended that you get at least 30A either single or combine +12V Rail icon_idea.gif

which refers to either the fma2 or strider 560watts OR the ZEUS 560WATTS brows.gif
*
i'd go for Zeus 560W whistling.gif

why?

it's single 38A +12V Rail, non-modular with 80% @50°C (they claimed laugh.gif)...
