one of my colleague has a toothache and went to see dentist...

the doctor had done operation on her in the process to cabut her tooth...

the doctor gave her 3 days MC but my colleague juz took 2 days...

when she pass the MC to HR, the HR told her Dental MC cannot be use to claim sick leave, have to deduct from her annual leave...

as far as i know, dental expenses reimbursement is a no for some company but does dental MC also is a no too?

+1, my ex and current employer(s) all ok with dental MC jer.
Dentist also medical professional like GP/specialist, has the authority to issue MC.

your HR needs schooling

From Employment Act:

60F(1A) An employee shall also be entitled to paid sick leave under paragraphs (aa) and (bb) of subsection (1) after examination by a dental surgeon as defined in the Dental Act, 1971

Ask HR, why Dental MC cannot be used? Sure they'd "we don't allow or encourage employee to take dental mc. It is just a small sick one"... LMFAO!!

if your hr die die dun recognize u really have limited options:

1. report to the labour office, but don't expect your company to thank you anytime soon. maybe a career limiting move (at least in this particular company)
2. report to the MD/CEO which HR reports to, tell him/her your case and hope he doesn't side HR (good luck)
3. accept your fate

20+ years ago I work in a chinaman supermarket.

got MC from gov hospital but HR said only accept from panel clinic. at panel clinic I told the doc the story and the doc said this is not right, but still charged me for the medicine, even I said I just want MC.

fast forward 1 year later the story come out to my sis, she just went to the supermarket see the manager and ask for compensation for my trouble but the manager denied knowing anything, so she went to the panel clinic and the doc remember everything and willing to be witness.

so the supermarket pay me few hundreds buck as settlement and then my sister ask the doc to pay back the RM16. she said later, she can get more from the doc for not filing report, but don't want to because the doc was helpful.

moral of the story: make sure you have a nasty sister.

actually the HR is the MD's puppet, and the HR is hired by the MD himself, coz (in my opinion la) the HR is a fresh, dumb, no experience in HR at all, only listen to the MD instruction and no other, work like robot, loyal only to MD... and many more and the MD also never work outside, after graduate, join his father company which is currently i'm working at, and he thinks everything he done is correct and never wrong...

in other words, we question the HR, means we question the MD...
