I m suppose to grab a Spark yesterday.
But rain stopped me from going to the shop.

Here I am... paused and looking forward to Mavic Air instead tho pricing slightly higher.
But I think is okay. As of now, bring Mavic pro for my trip until the Mavic Air make available to me...

One thing to note is that mavic air uses wifi transmission, so flying in urban areas with a lot of interference RIP sweat.gif

They can stream on 5G spectrum so I think its much better compare to 2.4G tho.
Lesser interference. But the combo price tag almost similar to Mavic Pro combo if u do a hard search for the deals... so I m guess, its another win-win case then...

So far rumours are pointing to a larger Mavic Air design with 1 inch sensor and 35 min flight time. If it really does have a 1 inch sensor, I’m guessing the price for the combo package to be at least RM6k.
As much as I’d love a 1 inch sensor, I don’t think I’m willing to spend that much on a drone that I’ll mainly use for travel only...

Ahh thanks just done that. Cancelled my old order and re-ordered with the RM288 discount.
Thanks! they must have only introduced that voucher yesterday since when I ordered it wasn't available. Wish I found out yesterday since I would have gotten RM50 CB from my credit card as well, but still RM288 is a great saving.

Eh really? when I ordered the Mavic Air they didn't have that banner sweat.gif

lol 1 inch sensor goodness...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mntF22cxp5E

The difference between Mavic Air and P4P 1 inch sensor capability is quite noticeable, but not so far apart to not consider the Air though wink.gif

Do you have a limit on how much you are willing to spend for the Pro 2?

Sensor size don't really matter unless you are looking to capture better low light footage
And most people don't fly drones at night anyways laugh.gif

Spark has the best size for travel actually. Just carry the styrofoam box ( spark + 2 spare batteries + props) + controller
Mavic air pouch cannot put in batteries + props, need to carry separately laugh.gif

As long same with Mavic Pro Platinum should be within expectation... hmm.gif

I still think Air is more portable than Spark. The non foldable legs is a big step back in portability for Spark. You can easily find a 3rd party pouch which can accommodate the Air and the batteries later on IMO.

Not just for low light, but with the bigger sensor you get better noise control and dynamic range.
Since I bring my DSLR /w lenses in my backpack, the Air would be more ideal since any grams & space saved in my backpack is also a saving from any backache lol.

3599/3711 vs 3140 which gets u 2 extra batt and the charging station alone is much much more worth it. I’d go for that option instead if I were you.

What is the voucher code btw? I can’t find it.

Haha I actually used Maybank 2 Cards for 11street since can use Amex. 5x points and RM50 cashback on weekends.
Too bad Q0100 only accepts Visa/Master...

Better order from Q0100 soon since today is their last day at that price based on the sellers comments.
Now I’m waiting 11street to refund RM7,610 to my card!

Nvm, just got the coupon, had to download the app and get it first before using ShopBack.
With my CC rebate, got it for RM3,497 with 2% shopback rebate around RM78.94. Brings it down to around RM3,420 smile.gif

Date Store Order Number Cashback
2018-02-22  Qoo10  78.94

Now to cancel and request refund from 11street again... hopefully my card gets refunded soon
*
Can use the coupon and ShopBack at same time? hmm.gif

Oh wow another good catch. This will be the 2nd time I’ll be cancelling - asking a refund from 11street. They haven’t even refunded my 1st order yet..

What is the voucher code btw? I can’t find it.
*
No code, just download the coupon from the banner.
Do check, i forget its available on app or desktop. But these RM400 promo had been there for quite some time edy.

Just download the coupon from the app, close the app and open Qoo10 through shopback app. Don’t need to apply first also, as long as the coupon is in your account all is good.

Still not reflected? Usually it is quite fast, less than an hour. If it still hasn't reflected means there is a high chance Shopback didn't capture the transaction with their app.

It's not a little extra, it is a lot extra considering we can get for RM1k+ cheaper if you don't mind waiting 1 month. In fact YL is also selling ready stock for the combo RM600 cheaper than droneskaki as well.

Saw their malaysia official store also start accepting pre-order already , price a bit high but offer 18 months warranty + free training workshop , seems tempting for this mavic air compare spark drool.gif

By the way for first time drone player , should I try mavic air or tello first ?

U don't need to have Internet connection to fly it but when u do initial setup / first flight better to have Internet connection as it will check for latest firmware and update if required.

You might also want to find out about no fly zones. The drone will use GPS to locate itself and if near no fly zone it might refuse to fly. No fly zones are like Airports or Military bases.

apparently it will auto land after you fly it for a few secs.

if it's low-risk zone you can go unlock it through their sites.
as for high-risk you might need to submit credentials and apply for it.

Yep, I’ve read user reviews who owned/used both Polarpro and FSLabs with them saying they are both comparable. Considering the price differences, FSLabs has the edge to me. They both had issues with their CPL filters, but they’ve fixed them in their new batches from their feedback.

PGYtech I’ve read had some issues as well, but not as many users and reviews compared to the other 2.

That said, my ND/CPL 32 & 64 just arrived. Now waiting for my 4, 8 & 16. Hope they will arrive before I leave for my trip =.=

Sure, they are just a platform like Lazada etc. The main important thing to look at is the seller. N4 is quite reputable with several chain stores around Malaysia. A few of us here already bought from them.

Yes that's true. In US, the RC transmission mode is using FCC, whereas other parts of the world uses CE

In terms of transmission power, FCC > CE
Hence, with FCC mode you can technically fly further than CE

2. it use wifi connection so take note for wifi interference around u
3. it has 8gb internal memory, surely u need bigger storage. best memory card is sandisk extreme pro for better 4k capture
4. 3 color re available, black n white are matte, red is glossy

Don't think telling you the insurance company's name will help since no insurance company will provide this cover unless you go through an influential agent/or is an influential client. No idea what insurance Thailand government enforced, but if it is related to Drone/UAV Insurance similar to US and EU, then yes. Liability coverage is a priority there.

Just got my liability policy. I’d strongly suggest anyone who owns a drone to focus on getting a Liability cover more than an All Risk policy to cover your drone damage as that is more important.
Much harder to get, but if all your insurance is placed through a well connected agent/broker then it is possible.

Covers 3rd party bodily injury & damage to premises up to RM100k provided:

1) restricted to non-commercial usage and for hobbies only
2) the use of aerial device should not exceed 400 feet
3) Below 30kg MTOM
4) Within Visual Line of Sight (VLOS) operation only (unless accidental)
5) Flying in non-controlled airspace (unless accidental)

*worldwide excluding USA & Canada... sadly this is standard for all liability insurance provided by Malaysian insurance companies sweat.gif

Premium is confidential lol blush.gif

So far hows the range of this drone? I've been hearing so many stories that the interference is too frequent.

got my mavic air.. happy with it so far but have not test the range yet.
Earlier using 2.4G wifi band which is definitely sucks.. Fly less than 9m already lost signal and activate RTH.

There are more interference in the city/dense housing areas etc, compared to outskirts which is quite normal for wifi controlled unit IMO.
But I had no problems going up to 1km in my neighbourhood at TTDI.

Totalled my mavic air today sad.gif Seeking for advice.

Bought it only 3 months ago. Flew less than 20 times.

Just now was the first time I flew it in:
1. urban area - damansara
2. night time

Before I take off, set RTH, confirmed it's on GPS mode. So I launched it.
When it flew up to ~100m high, suddenly errors appear on my phone screen saying something like "transmission signal lost", "can't transmit image", "vision sensor not functioning etc".

Then it just lost control and flew towards a office building. Crashed onto the wall, dropped down from ~4 storeys high.

Surprisingly, body is still intact, lost 3 legs. I am still able to connect it to DJI assistant and retrieve the logs.

---

Perhaps I am wrong, my understanding is that without sufficient lighting, vision sensors will not work, which means that automatic obstacles avoidance would not work. But it doesn't cause the drone to lost control and fly towards somewhere without control right?

Currently all I have is the .DAT file gotten from Assistant App and a broken drone. What options do I have? Thank you.

Hey guys,

I just got my drone for 1.5 months and just recently i noticed this

It appears the motor shaft is sunken but the propellers are at correct height. Also the motor felt slightly tighter compared to other motors. I've no idea when this happened, does anyone had this problem before?

Anyone know what we should do if our phone suddenly can't connect to the drone via RC? RC shows green light along with the backlight (green) but still can't get the phone connected. Camera also not connected (done multiple reconnection methods but it's not working). Once I connect other phones, it can be used.

It is normal that it has been restricted to fly at maximum 500m altitude only due to limitations that are either built-in to their firmware, unless u 'bypass' its firmware.

No problem carry with hand luggage. For checked-in baggage, u need to transfer the batteries to ur hand luggage. As for flying restriction, u need to check for the no-fly zone of the place u visit.

I always keep my drones and batteries in hand luggage, so far no issue when traveling to Japan and China.
As for flying drone in Japan, as I know, Tokyo and Osaka ban drones in all public parks.

D-Cinelike is a "flat"profile, so ppl usually do sharpening in pp.
I would suggest you to try premiere pro or vegas pro for pp.

Hi sifu, just want to seek some opinion and advice here.

I am quite keen to get one drone to have a play with it but I am not sure how often i will use it. Is that any drone law in malaysia or restricted area can't be flown?

I am new in photography/video so I am not sure how often i would use the drone. I used to hike thats why I wanted to get one and bring it when I am hiking but as you know when you hike, those extra weight will weight you down.

I used to have go pro but after few trip, i decided not to bring because when you go hiking, you have to carry so many extra battery pack and it bring lots of weight. hahaha

I am looking at Mavic 2 pro, any comment or how often you guys play with the drone?

Thanks for helping

Hi everyone.

I've won a mavic air from a lucky draw at my company.
Without the receipt, what about the warranty? Is it still cover in DJI Malaysia?

I haven't open the box yet, and didn't turn on or do anything yet.

Guy,
Got question regarding the DJI drones. For Mavic Air bought in Malaysia, does it come default in CE mode or FCC?
If it in CE mode by default would it change automatically to FCC when I travel to US? And say, after the trip and back to Malaysia can it be remain as FCC?

Was about to purchase something from Drones Kaki and it says Supplier Warranty. What is this compare with DJI warranty?
Also do Drones Kaki open box first to put their warranty sticker or something?

Can confirm to you that, DJI does not offer international warranty.

This is the reply I get from their support:-
"Thank you for contacting DJI Technical Support.

For the warranty policy for the unit, you could refer to this link: https://www.dji.com/service/policy?site=bra...ite&from=footer. We are sorry that we don't offer global-warranty service. You could provide us the SN of the drone, we could check where the warranty of your unit belongs to.

Thank you for choosing DJI products and we are looking forward to your kindly reply.
Best Regards
Po
DJI Technical Support
Website: http://www.dji.com/support"

Another support mentioned that, to claim the warranty the drones must be ship back to the origin country based on the serial number.

I bought a drone from Drones Kaki in March. I believe they are selling overseas set so any warranty claim will have to go through Drones Kaki, and they will send it back to coubtry of origin. Basically similar to buying an AP set handphone. We have to return the original box too when claiming for warranty.

Guys,
Maximum altitude setting here is measured from sea level or from the current controller location? Say, if we want to fly drone at genting, need to adjust this setting accordingly?

Maximum altitude setting here is measured from sea level or from the current controller location? Say, if we want to fly drone at genting, need to adjust this setting accordingly?

All sifus here...i'm here searching for some for some guidance. I m currently looking for a mavic air.

But the price gap is so huge for a same product...below is some store i went to...
1. DJI official store(lowyat & Paradigm)
2. Drone kaki SS2
3. Shopee
4. Lazada
5. Carousell
6. Some other drone shop(forget the name)

The price range is from 3.2k - 4k+++.
4k+ is DJI official store price
For 3-3.6k
1. Some claim their drone is DJI refurbish with 1 year warranty. And seller claim all those 3k+ drone out there on market is actually refurbished NEW drone with same 1 year warranty.
2. Some claim their drone is NEW with 6 month extra warranty but unable to claim official DJI because they deal with another distributor.
3. Some claim their drone is NEW and can claim from DJI official store, but best send back to seller so they can settle it for me.

Any sifus here can enlighten with me with your knowledge about drone?

Pros:

Compact design
Fast and fun
100 Mbps video capture – great camera
Competitive price
Asteroid and other autonomous flight modes
HDR photo capture
Three direction obstacle avoidance sensors

Cons:

WiFi connectivity – No Ocusync
Good, but not great battery life
Infinite focus camera

With MA2 no more Cons liao tongue.gif

The only thing I missed in MA2 is the DJI Go configuration for MA.

Red zone or NFZ stated in the apps is not allow to fly and some area not even allow to launch due to safety measure. Usually is airport area.
Even flying next to those NFZ u need to get approval submitted in the apps by providing all your contact details. Try your luck !
