They sell it with higher price tag because they offer a longer period installment plan so you can't sue them.

Buying hp laptop didn't provide you with any driver cd, they just ask you to backup a recovery dvd by your own normally take 3-4 dvds (and it takes quite some time to do that). Also remember to get the model number right, got a friend who flash hip hp laptop bios and become black screen and that is because he flash the wrong model bios, and that model is obtain from hp online diagnostic utility. (Proves that their bios flashing utility didn't have check and verify procedure) So just be careful

Also one tip for installing xp on hp laptop is you need the SATA driver (if you decide not to use the recovery dvd to restrore the xp)

Checked it. Can the graphics card in either models tahan my heavy usage ah?
Out of the two, the most likely is the dv6203 =)

Anymore options to add? I like to keep my options wide open.  happy.gif
*
Actually your big concern is battery. Run graphic heavy usage + c2d, your battery life probably will last you 1-1.5 hour only. So you might need to get a few backup battery.

You can upgrade it to Intel T7400 4MBCache 2.16GHz if you got the juice but it will increase the temperature about 10 degree.

Thinkpads are still good IMHO, and not everything that comes out of China have problem, please don't stereotype on all China Goods being bad. If you have proof that Lenovo Thinkpads suck, show proof instead of blindly bashing them because all the reviews of thinkpads i got are positive.

To john, I think angels wanted thinkpad for their quality and not for the specs. IMHO, the pricelist at the lenovo Malaysia website are a tad outdated, they still list Dothans selling at premium price. I think it's better to give lenovo a call to know the current price they are offering.
*
I didn't bash their product like dirt. I use thinkpad T series laptop too (company) and after lenovo took over, you can notice some qc degradation (take a look at T4X and T6X and see it for yourself) and then their pricetag is just scary and also the weight is like a phonebook.
But the casing is actually quite tough since build using titanium and their metal join do help.
So for personal usage, take those in your consideration and decide yourself. If still really want toughness might as well get military grade laptop and the price will still be cheaper too, then you can throw your laptop into swimming pool and still can use it. wink.gif

erm .. wht u mean .. ???
sry .. not really good in english ....

Actually intel have C2D L series processor that suppose to save more energy, but seldom see that in the laptop spec though.
c2d do use quite a lot of energy, i test hp c2d and tops it can perform is 2.5 hours. So for business users or frequent traveller, really need to shell out some money to buy another spare battery.

Hello!
I'm a user of IBM R40 and think that the quality of IBM is good. And recently, my sis wants to buy a laptop and I made some research and found out that IBM now converge with Lenova. Or IBM is bought by Lenova? Does anyone know that why is this so? And does lenova producing good quality laptop like IBM used to?

Any recommendation of the lenova (IBM) laptop? Thanks a lot for your help!
*
IBM just sold their pc devision to Lenovo, not the whole ibm company sell to lenovo because ibm pc sales get whoop pretty bad by dell.... so they see not much future for their pc sales. Server, mainframe and super computer division still own by ibm

You want to buy a laptop and actually use it and not let the laptop running in and out of service center. So think about it when you consider to buy hyundai. Most brands do have 3 years warranty just some need you to pay extra to get it only. Think about it if your laptop is broken and send to service center and they told you it will take weeks to fix it and what are you going to use in this interim service period.

Dell provided installment plan for maybank and citybank credit card only. Actually dell got some unspoken deal like they can match the price of the other brand same hardware spec and give you additional Rm300 discount and if you got friends work inside dell also can get employee discount.

They want the business, their major earning from selling computer is from upgrades, so if you won't upgrade then they didn't earn much from you.

Asus show a c90 prototype model that run Core 2 Extreme that is overclockable from 2.66GHz to 2.93GHz. This lappie even got its own cooling unit. But don't know whether they will actually put this unit to the market or not.
The notebook also makes use of a GeForce 8600M GT GPU, and can be upgraded easily through its PCIe MXM module to any future GPU. thumbup.gif

Previously Mac use powerpc architecture which do have some graphical edge on the processor, now mac is intel inside already so unless you are true loyal mac fans, that's kind of not worth to get it.
Publishing and designing business use all adobe software, so software wise not and issue for them. But if you want to use your laptop more than just work then you will hit the wall.
There is still a giant in graphic server field call SGI but they mainly in server line business.
