hi, can i know if there is any laptop with similiar specs to the benq s41, but with a 15"screen?

similiar as in c2d, ram and graphic card and price range. Thanks in advance

Try the Dell Inspiron 1520 + 2.0GHz C2D + 2GB (Free Upgrade for a limited time) + 8600GT + TrueLife 15.1' screen + 160GB HDD + Vista Home Basic + 1 Year CompleteCover = RM3996 (vs the S41's 120GB, 1.6GHz C2D, Linux, 1GB RAM and 8600GS)... thumbup.gif

Pick a slower processor to get it even cheaper... icon_rolleyes.gif

Gimmie a PM if you need any help with Dell's customization options... biggrin.gif

If we all are earning aussie dollars we'll buy HP too...

Andddd, you can always send it back a get replacements until you get one that has a better screen and doesn't whine... thumbup.gif

But I guess that particular unit failed on the count of first impressions... icon_rolleyes.gif

Like I said, you have the 14 day total satisfaction guarantee... Within 14 days, if anything is not to your liking, send it back for a replacement... Dell uses a lot of different types of screens, etc... Request for a replacement until you're satisfied... icon_rolleyes.gif

If you're still not satisfied, request for a refund... No worries mate! thumbup.gif

hi,
i'm looking for a small screen laptop less than 14"
lightweight
core 2 duo
1 gb ram

no twinhead (sorry cause my wife notebook motherboard burned 3 times in 1 year, thank god still under warranty)

budget RM3k. I was looking at acer travelmate 6291 but it seems no longer available
any other recomendations
thanks

If you're willing to spend a bit more (okay, around RM700 more), try Dell's XPS M1330... Really lightweight 13 incher... icon_rolleyes.gif

And better quality control then any Inspiron (XPS = Premium line)... thumbup.gif

thanks for the feedback guys.. actually lightweight not really an issue. i think i can live with a 3kg laptop. the 3k budget is actually given by the company. i'm willing to fork out extra for RAM and warranty but not the base unit. any suggestion?
*
If it's limited to 3k, try the Compaq V3600 line (one of the higher configs)... or a low end Dell Inspiron 1420 config... icon_rolleyes.gif

i just got my DELL 1420 yesterday.
-RM 3697.00
-2gb ram
-T7250=2.0ghz
-Geforce 8400=dedicated 128mb
-160gb hard disk
-Vista home premium
-Mc Afee 15 months licence
-Dell AIO printer
-Free Dell light weight Nylon case
But at the begining had some problem. First ok....after half an hour, the windows shut down by itself.....Got lots of error msg...(exp:side bar is not workin propaly, windows explorer failed to respond ......)
After that couldn't start up windows....
I tried the diagnost, all ok.
The some how the wiindows appeared and I use the recovery program.
Any1 got experiance similar problem?

If I got problem with the lap top still how ah? What would the tell when I call them? Will the come to my house and repair or do I have to bring it to DELL?
It comes with the 3 years next working day on sight service waranty.
*
Yes they will come and repair stuff... BUT, DONT ASK THEM TO REPAIR THE LAPPY... ASK FOR A REPLACEMENT, under the 14-Day Total Satisfaction Guarantee that Dell has, within the first 14 days of purchase, if anything is unsatisfactory with your received product, you can ask for:

A) Replacements UNTIL YOU ARE SATISFIED
B) A FULL refund

So, call them up and ask for a replacement... UNTIL YOU GET A 1420 THAT IS PERFECT (for you, that is)... thumbup.gif

Procedures:

1) Call them up
2) Ask for a replacement (mention the 14-Day Total Satisfaction Guarantee)
3) Ask them about the procedure involved
4) PROFIT!

URGENT ANYBODY PLEASE HELP!!! sweat.gif  sweat.gif  sweat.gif

[MY HARD-EARNED RM3000 IS GOING TO BURN FOR DELL TODAY] laugh.gif

Actually in the last hour, a sales assistant from DELL has contacted me regarding my online quotation. I want to buy a 1420, but she suggested a 1520 to me too. Now please give your input fellow LowYatians about which laptop series should I buy.

> My configurations:

1420 Total Price = RM 2913
1520 Total Price = RM 2925

However there's a catch: 1420 comes with GeForce 8400GS DDR3 while 1520 is DDR2.

Help anybody? I should confirm my purchase by this evening. rclxub.gif

Don't feel so rushed... Take ur time... IMHO get the 1420, for the same spec it's smaller and more mobile... JUST MAKE SURE YOU GET THE LONGEST COMPLETECOVER OPTION YOU CAN AFFORD!

frankly telling nvdia sucks big time...
it's the same performance with standard intel graphic..
i am using one nvdia 256mb ddr3 on my lappy n don's see much different with my frends laptop using intel 256mb graphic....
the best is ATI...a lot of difference...
that's my point of view...correct me if i am wrong
*
Urk... That's just plain wrong sounding... Now way can dedicated graphics be equal in performance with integrated, unless you're comparing the 7200go with the new Intel X3500... Check your drivers, outdated drivers (or ones with issues with the specific game you're playing - check the release information) are usually the culprit... sweat.gif
