As someone who owned both, I'd say use S8 for low light. OIS makes a lot of difference, so it's not prone to blur due to movements.

Plus S8 has Motion Photo, so you can fix any blur or random movements easily.

A8 can be good for low light, but hands kena stable or taking photo of static inanimate object like a building.

i am also contemplating to buy A8 but i'm kinda put off with the lack rear camera OIS.

i also somewhat liking S8 but the screen is too big & too tall (5.8"). A8 is just 5.5" but i think that is kinda big but i can manage.

I am currently using A5 2016 and so far i liked the phone except that i am facing with shortage ROM. Now only left with 1gb out of 16GB sigh.

My requirement of a good smartphone:

size: not too big, not too tall. 6" really is too big. 4.7" - 5.0 is ideal.
ROM: 64GB is the sweet spot.
rear camera: excellent quality with OIS
battery life: must last at least 6-7 hours

So far my rear cam shots are good, even in low light condition. To me lah, that is.

But i am not sure, is my a5 2016 got OIS or not? Lol!

a series never had ois.. ois is only reserved for flagship phones for now.. if u are happy with a5 i think this a8 will be better.. tho a8 shines in the front camera.. probably the best in the market now..

Only A 2016 have OIS, i own A7 2016 and checked camera is move when recording.
Other A series no OIS.

This is what my complaint for A 2016, no enough storage, my phone left 2.5GB.
