I think both same.
I mean, the result of the blood test is same. Maybe you can only compare the skill of the nurse that they draw your blood? |

QUOTE(bcth928 @ Jan 18 2018, 11:53 AM) I check out Sunway medical packages and their prices seem reasonable since they were hospitals. BPlab packages outrageous pricing. RM 1,500 and i can assure u that the one nursing you the diagnostic can miss out some checks . sometimes, doctor ask them ada buat tak? slumber je.QUOTE(e_mc_square @ Jan 18 2018, 06:15 PM) I think both same. oh yeah, been to bplab subang ss15, bloody fat malay nurse exactly like govt servant, after rubbing the alcohol straight away inject , pain like hell.I mean, the result of the blood test is same. Anyhow, the pain will last few second. One year once, never mind la. Night mare is when they need to poke you second time coz they can't draw blood in the 1st selected blood vessel. Thanks god I haven't kena poke twice before. |

QUOTE(e_mc_square @ Jan 18 2018, 06:15 PM) I think both same. My humble opinion is to get tests done by a doctor you trust - so someone will be responsible for the results. A doctor who is familiar with you or your background will also be able to ascertain whether the lab report is accurate or something seems off in the result. I mean, the result of the blood test is same. Maybe you can only compare the skill of the nurse that they draw your blood? Here are 2 reasons why I said what I did: One of these labs caused a colleague of mine in Penang to fly down to Singapore 20 years ago for an urgent PET CT scan (the machines in Malaysia weren’t as high resolution as the ones in Singapore back then). The lab had a reagent issue and kept reporting high values of a non-specific cancer marker called ca19.9. Anyway, long story short, my colleague sued them and received a private settlement. He also stopped referring patients to that lab. I don’t wish to name that lab because my colleague did get compensation and a settlement, but this is in response to your “both the same” comment. Not all labs are the same. If it’s any consolation for that particular lab, I personally had issues with the reagent used in a non-related test for autoimmune diseases called dsDNA, this time run by the other lab. This came back negative in a patient of mine whom I suspected had early lupus. My clinical acumen told me that the lab report was wrong so I repeated a blood test for her but sent it to 2 different, hospital labs (at a higher cost to my patient). Both NUH and SGH confirmed my diagnosis and I called the lab up to let them know that their reagent was faulty. To their credit, they’ve since that time (this again was some 20 more years ago) changed their test agent for lupus. No lab is perfect, neither are the doctors running the tests, but having a doctor be responsible for your report is better than trusting the numbers without any context, merely printed on a sheet of A4 paper. pardon me for reviving an oldie, just want to share my recent experience Pathlab.
Intended to go to the one PJ, phone call (a week before and a day before) tak angkat, FB messenger tak balas. So no choice, ingat boleh walk-in jer, but they(that branch) were closed due to State holiday Anyhoo, headed to the other branch to get it done since already on leave kan. So this one, whilst waiting to get the blood drawn and all, can see the wargamas all macam kena hardsell - come in tangan kosong to collect report, but balik tangan penuh - maybe the pre-ordered the meds/supplements kot. No issue la this visit, simple steady urine and blood collection (note, THEY did not take height and weight measurements). Next visit came to collect report, this one holy cow. First thing the "doctor" or consultant there said when open my file/read my report, "I'm surprised you have not had a heart attack" - yeah, puzzled af. Then from there, start la the salesman power, your this one like that, your that one like this, need eat this, need eat that, we have all these supplements here, it will help/good for this/boost your that. The total package of male-bovine-excrement they tried to shove was upwards of RM700+. Fuuh, i just buat dengar je la, in the end say thank you but did not buy any of their product - damn kesian those wargamas kena pushed to buy - buta buta spend hundreds (yes i also understand that diaorang dah tua, some takut mati so dia pun caya ngan si doctor tu beli la vitamin or whatnot). Not to mention gua baru survived covid, already 70-ish kg dropped to 60-ish KG, ask me go lose weight exercise more cause look overweight (hello, boleh ini macam ka when they didn't even bother to weight me in the first place), what the flying fak man. So, PAthlab or BPLab more pro? I can't say anything bout BPlab, but PATHLAB IS PRO AF FOR HARD SELLING THEIR PRODUCT. Pro in interpreting report, not so much. |

QUOTE(Mhd shah @ Mar 8 2018, 02:06 PM) BP 140.Lifecare 80 if add on to their quite expensive screening packages, otherwise 200, I think. Had a blood draw at BP Taman Megah recently. Mainland Chinese male nurse had to stab twice due to poor vein selection. Some bruising, no big deal. |
