I just got my xmax 250 today, very nice looking scooter and very easy to handle.

One thing I noticed is my front and rear brakes have very very little braking power, press until very hard also not really stopping. I don't think it's going to get much better after running in. Anyone else facing the same problem?

what the mileage clocked on ur scot ? could be the brakepad havent properly bed in if still new... same for tyres

ABS shouldn't affected since its only trigger if ur wheel locked.

The odo is 0km when I took the bike. Definitely not abs as it is not activated under normal braking.

This is one of the worst brakes I have, my previous scooters and kap chai also better than this, I don't think it will make much difference after running in even, the only thing I can think of is to bleed the brakes and hope that will improve it

Is it different from normal brakes? I see they use a pump to do it, exactly how the process work I'm not too sure also.

Anyway, talked to a few other Xmax owners and all have the same complain, weak front brakes. All of them upgraded the callipers and master pump.

I upgraded mine too, much better now the front brakes, can ride with more confidence.

Some photos below of the work done.

Yes, ABS is a bit different compared to the normal brakes. nod.gif
QUOTE
Wheel speed sensors are mounted above slotted rings on each wheel to measure and compare wheel speeds. The signal is sent to the ECU (electronic control unit) for monitoring. The ECU calculates based on information from both wheels for two parametres: whether the deceleration of one wheel exceeds a fixed threshold, and the other whether there is brake slip. These factors indicate a locked wheel.
The ECU signals the hydraulic unit to hold or release brake pressure, just momentarily before reapplying the brake pressure, to get the wheel back to the point of maximum braking force just prior to locking up. This pressure modulation allows the tyres to regain grip and enable the rider to control and steer his bike. In other words, ABS allows the rider to apply maximum braking force without locking the wheels and losing control.

From what I saw them doing, the installation and fixture of the ABS brake system is the same as the normal non ABS one. Just that for ABS, there is a wire connected to the master pump to skip the braking if the tyre is locked. You can feel the lever sort of jerks/vibrate when that happens.

Other than that, it is still the same mechanism as non ABS system and most probably to bleed both, the steps are the same.

Anyway, did try my ABS after the upgrade, easier to activate it now cause the bite is stronger.

Hi guys, I live in Shah Alam and work in KL city. I am planning to get a Xmax too. Could sifu here share with me the below:

1. What is the OTR price? Any recommendation which shop to buy from?
2. It's my first time buying a new bike, hence I have no idea which hire purchase financier offers the best rate. Some said to me personal loan rate is lower than Aeon. Is that true?
3. What is the maximum tenure for the repayment?
4. How much is the maintenance fee? How often is the maintenance needed?
5. Any recommendation on security lock and how much is it?

Hi,

It's Rapido Caliper and Racing Boy pump. The brake fluid reservoir is some generic brand but it looks nice in metallic black instead of the plastic looking white one that comes with the Racing Boy pump.

I did it at Kedai Motosikal Kin at Taman Tenaga, Cheras. Cost about 1.5k if not mistaken coz got other stuff also.

You can go there and show them the photo and tell them you want the exact same thing, much better than ori brake definitely. A must upgrade.

Next round I'm gonna try some Brembo brake pads for better feel.

Thank you, they have the adapter ready for the caliper pump means its already a common problem among X-Max users.

Price reasonable, for a brake upgrade.

Thanks bro..

I think I overstated the 1.5k price, could be closer to 1.3k if not mistaken but I don't have the itemized bill with me so can't really recall.

Worth every penny cause the original brakes were too weak.

My height is 163cm. Thought of buying the XMAX, but the seat height is too much for me. Anyone know that where to reduce the seat height in Ipoh area.
