Aspick , heidarren and eugenecctan = Any random reboot issue encountered after flashing USv1 firmware? Remember to report back.

Second question........did you guy try to flash USv2 or USv3 firmware to the EUv1 hardware? From previous posts made by you three, it appears flashing USv1 firmware to EUv1 hardware work perfectly. But, how about USv2 and USv3?  hmm.gif

My router did not encounter reboot for 3 days straight. Unfortunately on day 3, my house electricity went down temporarily so will have to restart the test again.

Dare not try USv2 or USv3 worried it'll brick my router which is the only one I have to supply wifi to whole of my 1st flr (main router on grd flr). Maybe some brave soul here can try and report back.... 😂

JohnLai, seems the US firmware still has the random reboot issue. I think my router rebooted twice, once on the 3rd day then again on the 6th day.

Luckily, I'm using this as a WDS with only 1 or 2 devices connected to it intermittently.

is there a better way of enabling the wds in this case rather than doing the html edit? i think if i flash to US version will have it ?
*
The WDS function is hidden. JohnLai discovered it and shared here. I think tp link hide it for a reason as it will create issue with certain functions, for example the time setting will not work when wds is enable.

Edit1: Also unable to get the printer sharing function to work in wds mode. Maybe someone here has better luck and can share the method.

The US and EU version has it. I'm using the US version because the 5G wifi signal strength is much better compared to the EU version. The drawback is the 2.4G signal will be weaker.

JohnLai I've been running my router as wds for the past 12 days without any rebooting.

If i recall correctly, i disable SPI firewall and did not enable TX beamforming in my latest experiment. I'm using it with their stock adapter.

The printer sharing never work correctly for my case anyway.
You will not make it past 30 days without single random reboot....... laugh.gif
I tried those before.

Best record was 22 days before it randomly reboot as usual.
*
Ok keeping my fingers cross. Will report back in 11 days time. If lucky, I'll be first person to break the record of 22 days. 😅

I upgraded to the EU firmware and go the AP mode working! Works well. Time's firmware isn't so great.
*
If you intend to use 5GHz wifi to connect your devices, then i suggest flashing to US firmware. The signal is much stronger compared to EU firmware.

Hi i have archer c1200 (EU) and i flashed it to US and now my router has 3 lan leds blinking even tho i dont conect it anywhere + my wifi is kinda not working how do i flash it back to EU firmware?
*
I have not tried flashing back to EU firmware. And i don't need to as i prefer to have stronger 5GHz wifi signal.

If you look at page 1, maybe you can try flashing back to the firmware in edit 7. Try hard reset the router first before flashing

Btw, my router with US firmware also has 2 of the lan led lights always on even tho there is no cable connected to lan. But the wifi for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz is working fine

Hi, hope to get some help to set up C1200 WDS bridge. I have read page 1 all the way thru to page 49. Especially read page 29.
I just got unifi and have changed my primary router to deco M9 (only 1 unit). Instead of buying another deco M9 to create a mesh, I thought of using the C1200 since the coverage is quite good except blindspot at the back of the house (just to cover 2 cctv, not for other usage).

The C1200 i got is 1.0.0 Build 20180403 rel.22124 (EU). I did not flash any FW yet. Using inspect sources, I managed to see WDS option in 5Ghz, enable that, survey and select my deco m9 (channel 149). I disabled DHCP, changed C1200 LAN IP to 192.168.68.2 to match m9 192.168.68.1

I did not change the IPv4 internet connection type (still the original PPPoE). I have disabled IPv6.

In Status, WDS status: Assoc
Rebooted C1200 and I tried to connect to the 2.4Ghz ssid but it cannot connect, failed to obtain IP address.

What did I do wrong? Did I miss a step? My WDS status is not showing Run.
Do I need to flash another EU FW? Or is it C1200 cannot connect to m9? I was not able to find info on how to change m9 5Ghz channel to 36-48. It does have a 44 channel but if I click Survey and choose this, WDS won't connect.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advanced.
*
In your main deco 9 router, for Channel selection did you fixed it to a particular channel before you survey for channel in your wds router?

Problem is deco only can control thru deco app I think. And I can't find option to fix channel.
*
That could explain the reason why you're not getting Internet thru the wds router. Your deco M9 probably automatically and randomly assign a channel depending on the interference in your area.

Best you purchase another piece of M9 to build a mesh wifi.

Glad you took my advice. 🤗

Have to try your luck elsewhere.. Here we all know how crappy that model can be  laugh.gif  laugh.gif Kudos on getting the house fully covered. thumbup.gif
*
It's crappy if use as a router. But others like me have found a good use for it either as an AP or as a WDS. In my case after flashing to US firmware, the WDS function with 5GHz as backhaul and wifi has made my whole house connected with fast internet. 😁

5GHz as backhaul meaning the SSID it broadcasts is the 2.4GHz one, right? Or the other way around?
*
You can use the 5GHz concurrently for backhaul link to main router and for wifi broadcast to your devices.

In my case, i changed the 5GHz wifi ssid to be different from the main router ssid. This way i will know my device is connected to which router.

Hey Guys,

First off, an immense thank you for all the guide and contribution in this topic. I've got an issue whereby I'm unable to setup WDS on the 5Ghz network but can successfully set it up on 2.4Ghz.

I'm using the Archer C1200 V1 with EU firmware (1.1.3 Build 20180502). When I enable WDS and try scanning for the root router SSID, I can scan the 2.4Ghz SSID but when I try to scan the 5Ghz network, my root 5Ghz network doesn't get listed which means I can only use 2.4Ghz. Is this something to do with the channels or any other settings? Any ideas?

Thanks!
*
If not mistaken C1200 wt EU firmware only can detect channel 36, 40, 44 and 48 for 5Ghz wifi

Try changing your root router to either of the above channel.

Thank you.
But for step 1, unfortunately I'm already flashed to US firmware 1.1.2.
Putting EU firmware 1.1.3 (Beta) in the interface will be rejected.

2. From manual it requires to put Gateway address which is different from root/main router. But from image above, which address should I used?

a) 10.111.191.x
b) 10.111.128.x
*
Try ping your host router to find out the actual address

Can the US firmware do WDS for 5Ghz? Currently on the latest EU Firmware and currently doing more testing hehe. I want to see what can i do more with the router. Wondering if there's a US beta firmware? if there was wondering can it be used to downgrade back to EU Firmware.
*
Yes.
Refer to page 1, edit 10 for the US firmware. But you need to flash to EU beta firmware first (in edit 7) before flashing to US firmware.
So far no one has tried flashing back from US to EU version. Why not u try and let us know if it works. 😅

zzzz failed to go back. Still looking for a solution. wondering is there a US beta firmware?...
*
There seems to be no US beta firmware available openly or when i google search. Perhaps last option will be to contact US tplink support to obtain a beta version.

I thought there's suppose to be a US beta firmware during the Krack vulnerability issue correct?
But that page have been removed unfortunately.
*
You could be right. Guess only way to get back to EU version is to contact tplink to obtain the beta version unless we have an expert here to modify the code

So this tplink not reliable?
*
Not reliable if you using as main router. It has the infamous random reboot issue.

I suggest you buy your own router and use the tm router as an AP or WDS.

He is asking about WDS.......US firmware has WDS hidden as well after all. blink.gif

EDIT :

Sigh...let me provide the US V1 Beta firmware and see if users can "reflash" back to EU firmware......

[attachmentid=10331439]

Summoning xjoshualaw29, Aspick and MrSpeedy.........you guys asked for the US V1 Beta firmware too....so here it is....
*
I flashed to the US V1 Beta firmware, then factory restored and tried to flash to EU firmware. It got stuck with a message something like "Upgrade not possible". bangwall.gif

I even tried from US V1 Beta firmware flash to EU Beta firmware Build 20180101 rel.66049(Beta). Not successful with same message above.

Conclusion : BEWARE! ONCE YOU FLASHED TO US FIRMWARE, THERE IS NO WAY TO GET BACK TO EU FIRMWARE

Well that's a bummer.
Wish the US firmware does not have LED bug or turn it off completely.
It really triggers my OCD.
*
You can turn the router with its led lights away from your line of sight or use something solid to cover the led lights like black tape. 😅

We thank you for your sacrifice.  biggrin.gif

No sacrifice at all. By flashing to US firmware, it solved my wifi issue. I had wanted strong 5Ghz wifi thru out upper floor of my 2 sty house. The 5Ghz wifi from my main router at grd flr living room unable to reach the 1st flr back rooms.
