QUOTE(jovigrunge @ Feb 4 2018, 11:01 AM) Recommended Apps For MI A1 +1, more reviews like this1. Drupe A dialer is the first and the most basic thing anyone would use on a phone. Sadly, the default dialer app on the Mi A1 is a bit of a drab. Therefore, I use a third-party app called drupe. It's a goldmine of features and has all that one can expect from a dialer. ![]() It comes with an amazing design and offers some great features, using which you can interact with your contacts and communication apps such as WhatsApp, Facebook, and others seamlessly. You can replace your dialer and Truecaller with this one. It has all the features baked in. Also, if you like to keep a record of your conversations, this app is sure to please you with the automatic call recorder. One cool feature of this app is that if you are unable to contact a person for any reason, drupe will automatically give you a floating window where you can set a reminder to call again after a while or to redial. 2. Apex Launcher Android One is good and pretty lightweight, however, it's too basic and there can be so much more that an app launcher can offer. That's the reason why I use Apex Launcher. It is a well-known Android launcher app that has been there for quite some time. Similar to Nova Launcher, Apex offers a diverse range of customization options. ![]() The basic version comes with Google folder, Apex settings, and menu icons with five scroll-able screens. This app lets you customize most of the GUI. You can sort and style the app icons, set the number of dock pages, home screen grids, and so much more. Another feature is setting the action for the home button, which again is fully customizable. If you wish, you can also hide apps using this launcher. 3. Pulsar Music Player The Xiaomi Mi A1 has a brilliant audio amplifier and it is meant for audiophiles. However, the stock music app is not good enough to play FLAC files. For that, I prefer the Pulsar Music Player. It's a great ad-free audio player that fully supports uncompressed, lossless music playback. ![]() The amount of features it offers is very similar to those offered by other paid apps like Poweramp. While playing music, it can automatically download missing album arts. With a user interface based on material design, it's very simple to use. It comes with support for Android auto, which means that if your car player supports it, this becomes the native music playback app. Also, if you use Google Chromecast, you can easily stream your music to your TV or music player connected to one. Another interesting feature of Pulsar is its integrated sleep timer. Using this, you can easily tell the player to turn the music playback off after a certain period of time. Very useful if you have a habit of listening to music before going to bed. 4. Bacon Camera Okay, the dual cameras on the Mi A1 would have been a bliss only if the default camera app was any good for it. Sadly, it is not. Hence, I have shifted to the Bacon Camera app. ![]() The Mi A1 doesn’t have support for the manual mode (or pro mode) so I trust the Bacon Camera app for this. The best feature of this app is that it lets you save a picture in RAW mode even if my phone doesn’t support it. ![]() It packs many pro-level features that provide DSLR-like manual control. Bacon Camera has a simple and easy-to-use layout. It includes modes such as Video and Panorama, easily located on its home screen along with a timer and an HDR mode. A free camera app cannot get any better than this. 5. Files Go by Google While the default file manager is good enough for daily tasks, Google's Files Go is a swiss-army knife that everyone must use. Files Go sports a multitude of handy features right from freeing up memory to transferring files in a jiffy. ![]() As one of its highlight features, it makes sharing files with nearby devices easy. Similar to ShareIt, this app lets you share files with the help of Wi-Fi Direct. Like me, if you also have the habit of capturing shots in the burst mode, you must be aware of the problem that a lot of duplicate files get created in the process. Using FIles Go, you can get rid of the duplicate shots easily. From time to time, the app will also scan your phone and let you know about all the apps that you haven't been using. What's interesting is that this whole package is available in less than 10MB. |

QUOTE(nehalem176 @ Feb 26 2018, 12:12 PM) My Note 2 has served me well for past 6 years till yesterday (totally off and unable to switch on due to overheating whilst using Waze) now planning to buy new phone and this Xiaomi Mi A1 is on my top wishlist. You may want to wait for the Redmi Note 5. Snapdragon 636 man. Price wise should be RM100-RM200 more than A1.Reason it's on my wishlist: 1. stock android 2. price is on my budget Cons i found out so far: 1. No NFC (srsly?) None issue to me but maybe to others: 1. SD635 (based from budget yeah it's relevant) 2. single bottom firing speaker (i prefer dual front firing speaker like Razer, Nexus 6, Axxon 7) but no choice due to budget 3. 3080 mAh battery capacity (even new phone I'm still stuck in this battery capacity range regardless my previous phone still can last a day) 4. 5MP front camera (i'm not kaki selfie/wefie naahhh, none issue except to my wife Not sure is working for below (anyone can feedback?) 1. Xposed SDK 27 systemless still can receive update OTA? 2. banking apps? I heard banking apps can't login even without root with Xiaomi device. let me know if this false alarm QUOTE(alvinddm @ Feb 26 2018, 12:34 PM) Hi, anyone facing charging issues? I'm using a Baseus type c cable from Ninjaz. Bought it for RM12 only.Original white cable came with phone works fine. When using 3rd party cable it shows charging bolt but when go to battery screen it shows "Not charging" and notification led off. 3rd party cable seller claims "Original Imported Xiaomi" is black colour. Tried with original samsung charger also cannot. What 3rd party cable do you use? Thanks. When im charging the phone it shows the charging bolt and the charging current is at 1900mA. All good for me |

QUOTE(mengsuan @ May 18 2018, 08:43 AM) Haven't heard of any people having this problem yet. Factory reset can fix GPS signal problem ? If so I'm gonna do it too lol. Cannot stand the frustration of having no GPS lock.It is a fantastic phone which I never had problem, only GPS since yesterday. Going to make a factory reset for final test before sending it for service/warranty. Do update your status here haha |

QUOTE(rexksvii @ May 20 2018, 06:57 PM) Currently my whatsapp having delay in receiving the message and notification. Sometimes it works fine and sometimes it can delayed for hours until I unlock the screen and open the app. Run speed test, if 30mbps then maybe the app store developer server slow lorGoogle Play Store also having some issue when downloading apps. The downloading progress will constantly stop and resume (the stop here isn't mean the download crashed or error, it's the progress hang for few seconds to 1 minute then it will resume back). Most of the time it can finish download the apps but it took quite some time (for instance, with Unifi 30mbps, downloading a 1GB app should only took around 15-20min but yesterday it took me around 1 hour to download a game with similar size). Sometime the apps will not be able to finish download and crashed (error code:495) Haven't try resetting the phone yet due to work and having quite a lot of big apps (probably need a whole day to recover all the apps). |

QUOTE(azhar75 @ May 21 2018, 10:13 AM) Can we try "offline" navigation just like in my YouTube below...? Hmph I tried it inside house and got no signal at all. Will try it in LRT as well 1 day.By testing in "airplane" mode for navigation, at least we cancel out the "telco" factor... QUOTE(CheaTeRz @ May 21 2018, 12:50 PM) UMobile user here. I can vouch for the issue related to the GPS. Only have issues once my data changed from 4G/3G+ to 3G or lower. So for you is phone problem ? |

QUOTE(apecx92 @ Jun 8 2018, 06:57 PM) Disappointed with Xiaomi, latest update (2nd may update) they tuned down our sound output + Android 8.1 still havent yet come. Gonna be my last device. They talk kok only. Lazy to fix the bug, so say is normal condition. " Dear Mi fans, We have received much feedback regarding audio tuning for Mi A1, and some users regard it as a bug. We hereby clarify that this is a normal condition, not a bug. Our developers have optimized the audio tuning to give you a better experience. Now the headset effects are lighter and softer. You might also find the default volume is reduced for the same intention. We believe this adjustment will bring you a better experience especially concerning health. Special tuning has been introduced to deliver a better experience for Indian users, which may make you feel some differences. However, it is a normal condition and will not affect your using the device. Thanks for your understanding and support. MIUI Team" |

Truth to be told, I stopped at Febuary update.
Cause every update that came last time was just incremental. Probably some small bug patches that not everyone face and security patches. So my phone is running just fine without all the problems some of the owners are facing. Like the saying goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. |
