I recently updated windows 10 on my Dell laptop and since then the headphone jack is not working.

The computer only recognizes the sound from the main speakers. Yes I have made sure that the most current drivers are installed.

Is this a known issue and are there any known fixes available?

This mostly driver issue.
Try download latest driver from audio chipset vendor (not from Dell).

Already done that. Reinstall the driver (Audio & realtek) and it worked. But after rebooting, the problem re-occurs again.

Freaking annoying. Googled almost everywhere nothing really fix it permanently.

Maybe windows reinstall their version of driver when you reboot, probably it consider it's version is newer. Try uninstall/delete all the sound card driver and restart, if all is uninstalled when reboot it won't able to auto install any sound card driver. Of course disable it from internet first before you start, otherwise it will download the driver again. After sure no more driver than only install driver form the manufacturer.

Same here with my Y400.

Used to be fine until one day suddenly the red light came out from the headphone jack and it cannot detect the headphone when it's plugged in. After updating to the newer audio driver then it can detect again but the volume quality has went down the drain and it's much softer than before. Even the speaker as well. Feel like the JBL quality no longer there.

If the latest driver doesn't work, try to remember which previous work for your laptop.
