Hi, would like to ask opinion as I couldn't make up my mind which laptop is the best option.

Had went to Digital mall to survey currently shortlisted 3 models:-

1) Dell G7
2) Lenovo Y720
3) MSI GP63 Leopard 8RE

Any other recommendations for considerations?

Actually sometimes I wonder am I even heading the right direction in getting a gaming laptop? 

Visited them yesterday. Overall quite good, slightly above my expectations (build quality, cooling, display etc)

Between Lenovo T480, Acer Swift 5 and Acer Spin 5.... (i5/8gb/256gb).. for work (ms office, calculation, stats), no games, lightweight and good battery life... which one is better?

Any SODIMM DDR4 RAM will do, same frequency and timings preferred

Can mix in most cases as long as it's the same DDR type, frequency and timings. SF314-54/54G has 1 soldered RAM and 1 open slot

Been out of the hardware game for a bit, what's the standard price for 4GB RAM? Or is it better I go straight with 1 8GB?

Hmm for your budget HP Pavilion Gaming (8300H/8750H+1050) should be OK, if you need better thermals you must do undervolting+repaste. Needs to upgrade RAM to >8GB and add SSD (need recommendations?).

Acer Nitro 5 (8300H/8750H) also OK but needs undervolting+repaste too due to CPU cooling issue. The design also looks outdated, it's slightly heavy too.

8750H is a hot chip, get it if you really need that kind of power and you know how to tune the CPU

New Omen DC is excellent but too expensive. The 1060 model is alright but only 3GB VRAM... memory really that expensive?

Btw, how about Dell laptop or ThinkPad L380 Yoga (got pen), ThinkPad L380, ThinkPad T480?
Because my previous experience i bought Dell laptop, they got onsite repair (technican came).

Don't like TUF's design. Too traditional gamer laptop look and thick bezels. Already too used to very thin bezels on my monitor and my wife's XPS13

FX504 has slightly worse build quality

It's actually consumer rebrand like Thinkpad E series...
