Just came back from Machines, so my battery was bloated. Only option they give is pay RM199 for a new iPhone 6S.
Not bad I guess...

is that normal?..i sent my 6s plus today also to machines then suddenly they say battery bloated so can not just replace the battery but whole phone for rm 199...so any idea if this is a recall or what? because at the same time some other customer with 6s also have the same issue cannot replace the battery to change the phone too..and furthermore, the technician says the replacement unit will come from singapore

Yeah I faced the same issue too, they gave me a refurbished unit though, although they claimed that it is a 'new' unit, I looked up the IMEI number and found that it is actually not.

Ok la, you get a refurbished phone for RM 199 smile.gif

my speculation is the Apple is no longer have enough spare batteries at the moment, i.e..almost the end of promo replacement excise date therefore they no longer restock the batteries.. if my speculation are true then they only will replace the battery on very bad condition iphone/ the good condition phones will be replaced with refurbish units thus saving to them in term of new battery cost and labor..just my 2cent++

yeahhh im thinking that too..my unit is 3 years old already with scratches at the charging port..considering im getting almost a new phone is not bad at all..at least it can hold for another 3 years before im getting the 'old' iphone xs max later at much cheaper price..smile.gif

Thanks for reply.
Was curious to know if all the refurbished set came from same Service Center....
Heard some was updated to the latest IOS. (Some owner preferred maintain on the older IOS though....) Was yours updated?
*
as far as i informed by the technician..the unit come directly from Apple and they are not allow to open/do anything to it until the customer come and signed the receiving form..in my case he (the technician) open the box (simple Apple white box without accessory) infront of me and pass the iphone..that's all.. my refurbished iphone come with original version of ios........but do note that if u want to install the backup u need to have latest version of IOS so... yeah that suck..

No they messed up my order. Now they only initiated the service.
*
based on my printed delivery form, its very difficult for machines to full fill the order as the refurbished unit provided by Apple and Apple control it based on unit serial no. not the discription by technicians.. hopefully ur replacement will ready soon

This “phone” replacement just apply under machine ne or others eg switch etc?
*
the phone replacement is just our own speculation/theory...the official replacement just the battery for price of 129 regardless where u purchase it so long it is not tempered by 3rd party. Some of us may lucky to get replacement for 199.. that also subject to approval from Apple.

u may try it..go to battery in setting--> check battery health and if below certain percentage (my units at 73%) ------> diagnosis the problem button (if im not mistaken)----------> click arrange appointment with service center button (automatically connect to Apple server and pick the nearest service center near u or select which u prefer) and fix the appointment date (5 days later as for me but depend on sc)----------> then Apple will notify u by email of your appointment date...and before u go to sc make sure backed up your phone and prepare at least 199 in your pocket. thats all

Replaced my battery at machines on 29/08, and realised that batt performance is still quite poor these days. Just had a look at batt health and it's already at 99%. Just 3 months usage and it starts dropping?
*
thats not bad IMHO..1% per 3 months..10% for 30 months that 6 months short from 3 years..not bad at all

Hey bro, do u mean we have 3 months additional warranty on the battery after we paid rm121 for the battery change??
*
yup that what they told me when i asked but my unit is replacement unit so they warrant the whole phone for 3 months..it stated in the receipt: 3 month warranty

QUOTE(christcwl9 @ Dec 5 2018, 07:05 PM)
Did apple specify what actually covers in the 3 months warranty ??? Like if it drops to how many percents did apple will warrant a change FOC ??

Btw, can I check my repair record in my Apple ID ?? Or there’s no way to check it except with the receipt of payment only ?
*
as i read in tech paper somewhere in the internet..they only consider defective battery if drop below 70% but..1 month 3% and if a linear chart plotted 70% will come less then a year and of course no more warranty at that time...ironically my replaced phone still hold 73% after 3 years of heavy usage but maybe..or hopefully the drop will slow in time
