Ok, test message went well smile.gif
I want to relate my experience with all of you about the IPhone battery replacement program by CG Computers. In particular the service provider located in Bay Avenue, near Queensbay Mall Penang.
There are some conditions to be met before they’ll accept your phone for the battery replacement program.
1. Phone must not be serviced or opened by unauthorized.
2. Display screen must not be cracked or chipped.
3. No liquid damage, no bent phone.
Advanced payment of RM129 is payable upon submission.
In the event, they find out the phone has been serviced before by unauthorized person they will not proceed with the battery replacement and the phone will be returned to you minus RM120.00 (for admin charges).
I’ve more experience to share but for now, just digest the T&C as above before you joyfully and innocently bring your iPhone there.

Continuing my experience,
After the counter staff gave a physical inspection on my iPhone 6 for water damage and any other signs of damages as mentioned earlier, he duly accepted my phone together with an advanced payment of RM129.
Lastly, he also mentioned in the event of hardware failure during a diagnostic test my phone will not be eligible for the battery replacement program and RM100.00 will be deducted and only the balance of RM29 will be refunded to me.
I duly complied with their T&C because I know my phone is in normal working condition.
A few hours later, I received a call from the technician and he informed me that my phone has failed the diagnostic test (mic failure) and they cannot proceed with the battery replacement program unless I authorize them to repair the mic. According to him, the mic is housed in the display as one unit and that it cost RM795.00 to replace (entire display unit). So it now comes down to either I repair the display at 795 or they will not replace the battery and to add salt to the wound (or to kick the already wounded dog lying on the floor), they will only refund to me 29.00, the 100.00 be diagnostic fee.
Are you guys angry yet about this?
I contact Apple Support and those guys are really helpful.
To cut story short, a few days later the technician called and email to me that they’re willing to proceed with the battery replacement but there’s no warranty on the new battery and that if anything happened after the replacement they’ll not be held responsible.
So I email back with two options.
1. Replace the battery with standard Apple warranty or
2. Cancel the battery replacement and give me full refund.

My logic is why pay and take a 50% chance on a new battery (without warranty) when I can live comfortably with 100% functioning phone on an 80% (presumably) battery.
Case is still pending ...

Think twice and understand the T&C carefully before you send in your iPhone for battery replacement.
When they told me about the mic issue I was laughing inside.
It’s like saying I send my Honda car to service center to have the airbag inflator on the steering wheel replaced (Honda airbag recall program) and the technician discovered that the horn is not fully functioning.. and they cannot proceed with the airbag inflator replacement.
do you guys think the CG guys are jokers to treat us like that?

mic replacement costs rm795 ??

According to the technician mic is housed in the display as a unit. So to repair the mic is to replace the display which is 795.00

That sounded so ridiculous to me that I googled it after reading your post and found this.

The microphone doesn’t look attached to the display to me.

It seemed so but according to him there are 3 mics, front, back and below near the headphone jack.
My problem is the front mic..
He emailed to me the diagnostic test screenshot which I post below.

I received another email from CG and this time they will honor the 60 days parts warranty but there’s another sleazy condition..
I’m posting it for all to read.

“Service center will not be held liable if device causing "No Boot" issue or any unforeseen hardware failure after battery replacement”

I dont feel comfortable with the above added condition so I’ve decided to cancel the repair and seek a full refund.

Let this be known to everyone that it’s not that straightforward to be entitled to the Apple battery replacement program due to the sleaziness of our local Authorised service provider.

I want to add again, all these additional conditions was to twist my arm and to threaten me simply because I did not want to pay the 795.00 for the display unit.
I am guessing that the new Conditon as posted previously simply means if they put in the new battery and if it fried my phone then they won’t be held responsible.
So I decided it’s better to live with the original 80% capacity battery than to purchase a new one that might in the slightest chance fry my phone.
A risk I’m not willing to take. What are your thoughts?
