Well what you pay is what you get. For less than RM2k paintwork respray (some more D segment sedan, really?), they will use cheaper ingredient and maybe less proper pre-repaint preparation. Consumer will only always look at the price more than the value behind. (FYI: I do not own any car paint workshop, I am just like anyone of you, the normal consumer)

IMO, coating does serve its purpose to certain extent. If you have budget you can go for it, else normal waxing will work as well. Both wax and coating serve as sacrificial layer on top of ORIGINAL manufacturer paintwork, but the durability and level of protection are the key differences between both products.

But like what other said, after coated your car, it doesn't escape you from the responsibility of washing your car regularly. It makes maintenance easier and less dirt, similar to car that is protected with wax (not all kind of wax). Forget about stone chipping protection for coating as the thickness of coating is approximately <2um after fully cure.

One more thing to note : the prep stage before coating is crucial as well. More on the craftsmanship and the level of detail. Also, good quality coating will be less prone to spotting issue than other.
